Getting my yaris!

I ordered my Yaris 3dr HB and it is coming this weekend!! I got A/C and mp3. However, the dealer called and asked me if I wanted add an immobilizer for $400CAD. They will install it and have it ready for me when I pick up. Should I? Is that a deal?

Not sure what an immobilizer is or does.. but just want to congrat you on your fine purchase.

it prevents people from stealing your car. It cuts power so no one can hotwire it without the key.

I couldn't get black so I had to settle for silver or wait a month. I said, I'll take the silver. black would've been sweet.... oh well

I'd skip the immobilizer and just get an aftermarket security system that comes with one. Viper 791XV or 5900SST by Directed Electronics are very good ones.

Hey congrats! Silver is a great color especially for the Yaris...yes black is nice as well but its a pain in the butt to keep clean! I vow my next car will not be black! But I still love my baby-sick I know. And you see dirt and scratches, believe me I know! But silver is one of the few colors where its easy to keep or at least look clean.

Black was my first choice, red was second, and silver was 3rd. Frankly any colour would do if it means getting a Yaris sooner. I can't wait! I wanted black because anything black just looks cool. I was reading some of the "black yaris" threads, and they do look great when they are new and shiny. However upon thinking, silver would be 'cleaner' and it doesn't get as hot as the black in the summer.

I don't want an alarm that makes noise because my last car, it went off when a motorcycle went by and it was a pain. I ended up disabling the damn alarm. I want a silent immobilizer, can they be bought and installed cheaper than $400?

I have an aftermarket alarm and I'm regretting it, but don't let that get you down and as you mentioned it seems you've been through this before. At first my alarm was fine and then I got this extended button or wire to the trunk of the car so if that was opened the alarm will go off where's as before it didn't do anything or just did the warning chirp. After that the thing would go off like no one's buisness! I was peeved! I was afriad that this would happend if I got an alarm system. Twice I went back to "fix" the problem so the guy turned down the sensitivity, before I had it in the mid-sensitive setting but now its the lowest sensitive setting. Anyway I'm considering getting it out, its more of a burden of anything! I don't want to arm it and worry that it will go off in the middle of a empty parking lot and what not. Sorry for the rant and novel, just thought I give a few thoughts!

I don't know about silent immobilizers, but that does sound like a better choice.

My previous car had an alarm and one day when I was at school, it started to go off for no reason. It was raining and must've shorted something. My dad didn't know it was going off till a while later and the cops came and was about to tow it cause it wouldn't stop making noise. My dad rushed out and they asked if this was his car, and he said yes, so they opened up the hood and unplugged the battery to make it stop. After that I cut the freakin wire cause I didn't want to happen again.
