May I have your attention please...
Folks, I know this is short notice and it will probably screw things up. I'm sorry and I take full responsibility for this.
!Today's Yaris Yak location has changed!
Since the people attending today's Yaris Yak are mostly on the Dallas side of the metroplex, let's meet at the Keller's Drive-In at 10554 Harry Hines Blvd, Dallas, Tx, 75220 at 6:30pm. This is between Walnut Hill Ln. and Lombardy Ln. The restaurant is on the EAST side of Harry Hines.
If anyone needs to call me for any reason, please do so, 214-405-3715. I will have my cell phone with me and can give you directions if needed.
Again, I'm sorry for the last minute change but there's no real reason to drive to the far side of Ft. Worth if we're all in Dallas.
Thanks,
S.R.

Ok Boys and Girls,
It's time to think about another DFW Yaris Yak.
Tentative dates are:
June 13th and 14th (the 14th is Flag Day)
June 20th and 21st (the 21st is Father's Day)
June 27th and 28th (no holiday)
Tentative locations are:
Keller's Drive-In (Dallas)
Lazerdot's House (Bedford)
Sonic Drive-In (Somewhere in Ft. Worth)
We need suggestions for locations in Ft. Worth! I'm looking for places to go but a lot of what I find on Google ends up being closed.
Please let us know what you think,
S.R.

We can go to Lazerdot's or Keller's. I'll ask people around here where a good place to meet up would be good.

we could go to the Stockyards in Ft. Worth!
okay, I'm joking

I'm ok with with a YY any place. I will be putting on brakes and camber stuff at my place, date to be announced. I will be gone for the TT in Cresson the afternoon of the 13th. Let me know.
lilredrocket
05-27-2009, 07:18 PM
I wouldn't be able to make it on the 14th because there is going to be another NST meet in houston. Sorry I always support Mike and his crew. With that said I have been PMing wildmongoose26 and she lives in Carrollton and said something about happy hour at sonic and if we can talk her into it we all might be able to play the possibably the funniest game of frisbee golf ever. I work every saturday until 6 and remember I'm an "hour away" from everything and I don't work sundays. Oh and lazerdot I can get camber bolts cheaper than you did through work. I think I'm going to install some tomorroww at work!
Lazerdot
05-27-2009, 07:42 PM
Cool, the ones I got from Garm were a good price. I wonder if they are similar? How would you like to get a set of brakes too?(R1 Drilled Slotted). I could order them together, brake lines as well. Maybe S.R. too?
I'll be getting the bushings from NST soon. Do I need both sets?
Either way, an expert would be helpfull for the install on each part.
Frizbee golf sounds good by the way, Ive been wanting to try that for a long time.
lilredrocket
05-27-2009, 07:54 PM
Sorry I can't afford the brake stuff right now. Garm does have a good deal on the camber bolts you can't buy them from us without spending twice that amount but I get them at cost so they are only about 10 bucks cheeper than what you got them for. "I'm not an expert but I'll take a look" I love that quote! You could get the bushings at different times if you wanted. some people say get the cable bushings firts but if you can get them all you won't be disappointed. Both in combination will really "clean up" or "chrispen" your shifts. I have the tools to install them if you want me to help.

Oh and the stockyards is about the only thing going for Fort Worth. Haha lame. I don't mind driving to Dallas or lazerdots house for YY
Lazerdot
05-27-2009, 08:42 PM
I'd like to do the install with ya. We really need to get you and SR out to an AutoX. The next ER is July 5th. How about we all do it. It's a long day but alot of fun. Maybe just maybe OZMDD will bring his Yaris too....?

The ER and Porsche club events are normally on Sundays. Check out;

The July 5th event is at Mineral Wells and is a very fast course. We'd have to tape up the cars some.

If you really want to do one of these things, Helmets are usually available on loan at the event.
Just talked Garm. He's got neat stuff in the pipeline. Save your $$.
Brakes and lines are on the way. I can't wait to give them a try. I'll talk to LilRedRocket about when and where to put them on.

Wow...I just read this. That sucks. Did you or she get hurt? How long out of commision? :frown:
SaerinRhoe
05-31-2009, 04:48 PM
Nobody was hurt, I was inside and my car was parked at the curb. She was backing out of her driveway. I was parked in the driveway but moved onto the street to let my mom go to the store. This happened about 5 -10 minutes later.
We'll see about a repair time on Monday but it will probably take a couple of days to get the estimate.

I think I'd have to win the lotto for CF doors :) but it's a nice thought to get me through the repair process. The rental I managed to get is a Mazda 3 4-dr.

Hey guys, I just got my web link added to YarisWorld. Take a look.
I expect the brakes to be here today or tomorrow. Garm said I can work with the present pads. I think the rotors should go on fairly easy if I have the right tools.
Wanna try for Friday night? Probably down your way LiLRed?
I'll let you know when they get here.

If you mean down my way I got a big enough garage to do it in and I can fire up the grill if you want!

06-03-2009, 02:09 PM
Awesome web link Lazerdot. Would you be interested in me passing out your business cards when I pass out YarisWorld cards to other Yaris drivers? I'm making up some business cards on my pc to hand out at events and when I see another Yaris or Yaris owner.
So, an update on mine.
I talked to the guy at the body shop and he said the damage is all the way into the intrusion beams (no real surprise there) so they have to replace the entire door. All parts are coming from Toyota and I'm pleased about that. He said the door should arrive today and the glass might take until Friday to arrive so hopefully that means I'll have her back sometime next week.
That would be excellent because then I get to wash her up nice and pretty and hijack the next meet to be a 'welcome home' party.
Here's hoping it all comes together quickly,

Am I ashamed to show up in a Ford? Have you forgotten who went into a biker bar looking for a Yaris owner? Have you forgotten who stood on a sidewalk in Houston and yelled and waved at passing Yaris drivers to get their attention?
Ashamed? I think not good man.
I'll be there so long as you pm me an address to be at. Also, let me know if I need to bring chips or dip or... wait... we'll have plenty of dips there already. Let me know if I need to bring anything else.

Almost banned from Walmart. Geez, I guess the FORD is rubbing off.
Thanks for the expertise putting on the Brakes and stuff. I feel a lot better about workin on the car. Now I'll have to see how muvh better it handles.

06-08-2009, 01:47 AM
I thought it was pretty solid but I also didn't want to brake your car again so I didn't push it to hard. I'll have to up in my camber bolts in this week and tell you what I think of them then. You're welcome with the help! Any time you want to mod your car bring it over and I'll help you out (and feed you too). I'm getting excited about the race on the 5th!

Not sure Greg has the race and I'm going to houston for the drift event. Kind of split. What about the last weekend of the month be wildmongoose is moving next weekend?
SaerinRhoe
06-11-2009, 01:29 PM
I'm fine with moving it to the 27th-28th if everyone else is. There's no official holiday that weekend so that might make it easier for anyone else that's considering attending but hasn't posted yet.

06-17-2009, 04:56 AM
Good morning.
I'll be working at the track on the 21st till late afternoon or early evening.
I bought those rim ring things. Does that mean my car has bling?
lilredrocket
06-17-2009, 11:42 AM
I think I'm a bad influence on you guys. First Jeff gets an exhaust like mine then Greg buys trim rings for his car. Oh and Greg I forgot to show you my lower grille I painted it and it looks 100% better I'll try and snap a few pics when I get home tonight
Lazerdot
06-17-2009, 12:27 PM

lilredrocket
06-17-2009, 04:47 PM
Haha. Sorry guys maybe we shouldn't hang out anymore. Haha. J/k. Atleast its car related stuff and not other things.
SaerinRhoe
06-18-2009, 01:55 PM
I'd like to see the trim rings in person to see how they look. I've seen pictures of some here on the forum but, I don't know, trim rings? Maybe it's one of those 'you had to be there to appreciate it...'.
What do you all think about painting the stock wheel covers black? Flat black or glossy black? I picked up a can of the high-heat black paint for my new pipe and I know I'm not going to use it all down under.
Also, I pulled the 'toyota' and 'yaris' words off the back hatch. That leaves the "T" emblem on the front and back and I want to pull those off and paint them black. Do you all think it would look better as flat black or glossy black?
Thanks,
S.R.

06-22-2009, 11:21 AM
Good morning everyone,
Ok, so we didn't get together on the 21st for various reasons including which is alright. Is anyone up for meeting on the 27th or 28th?
I found a car show in Ft. Worth on the 27th from 6:00pm - 9:00pm that's held at a Sonic Drive-In. Linkage: http://www.ddrockinrods.com/SonicCampB.html. There's a link to Yahoo Maps on the page for directions.
This would be good as it gets us on the other side of town for once and maybe we can find another couple of places to hang out over in Ft. Worth. Alternatively, we can meet at Keller's Drive-In again and I can go chase Yaris owners through biker bars again.
Also of interest to us may be this website: http://www.carshownews.com/national/TX.htm. It's a listing of different car shows across the state for the whole year. This is where I found the one I linked above. I think this could be really helpful for planning events with folks in other cities.
Y'alls choice,

Not to worry...I believe this is a typical problem for DFW car groups. I think we underestimate the sheer size of DFW....enthusiasts from Burleson to McKinney have to think twice before launching out on a regular basis. Me...I'm in Arlington.

And now the story...
After leaving the Yaris Yak, I was driving back to 35E and was in the center lane of traffic going West on Walnut Hill Ln. A kid driving a Cadillac DeVille in the outside lane (to my right, passenger side) lost control of his car on a straight section of road.
He swerved left into the passenger side rear quarter of my car, swerved right and hit the curb, swerved left and hit my car again and then then swerved right, jumped the curb, blew both tires on the passenger side of his car and narrowly missed a guard rail bordering a 10ft deep drainage ditch.
Both of us were able to turn onto a side street where we stopped and then he was able to park in a parking lot where he had to leave his car. I'm fortunate enough that I was able to drive home with nothing but body damage.
The kid driving and his buddy in the car both stated that the automatic transmission shift lever came off in the kid's hand and that's what caused him to swerve and loose control. To me, that sounds awfully fishy and I have to wonder why was he hanging onto the shift lever to begin with.
LazerDot recovered my missing wheel cover across the street (3 lanes each direction) and about half a block from where the first impact happened.
The kid driving the Cadillac did not have his driver's license with him and was issued a ticket by the officer that showed up. He admitted fault to the officer and it went into the police report and I have to pick up a copy of that in the next day or so.
Something tells me I need to get a couple of big bullseyes painted on my car now or else start adding little decals like WWII pilots would add when they survived combat.
