Hi All,

On Monday, Memorial Day, I bought an 08 Yaris S sedan. The car had 17,300 miles, automatic and power package. I think they were really needing to sell it over the holiday weekend. They dropped the price from $14K to $12K, and with the trade of my 08 Civic, I got it for $10,500 out the door. Pretty good price. I'm real happy with it so far. Wish it was a manual, but I'll live with the auto.

Here are a couple of pics.

Would love to, but since I bought this car because my finances are tight, that'll have to wait a bit.

keep an eye out for a good set of used springs, should be able to get the car a little lower for under a couple hundred including labor :)

Been checking Ebay, but for other things. I'll look at springs next time. Would I need anything else, or just the springs?

Thanks!

Pretty car. IMHO, you should just enjoy your car with the stock suspension, especially since you have the ground effects with the "S" package. Lowering a car looks good, but in places like Oklahoma with bad roads, it would not be a good idea. lol.

Congrats!

I actually saw that car last Sunday at Curry. (Down in ATL for the week.) It surely looked real nice. :)

Q: So, did you get your out-the-door price since you had some equity in your '08 Civic? Or, was that the out-the-door price w/o any trade-in or cash down?

Here was my situation:

I owed $13,800 on my Civic, an 08 EX 5 speed. My payments were $300/month. I needed to get my payments downs as low as possible. There were very few new cars that would fit the bill, so I started to look at used. I had to get one with a warranty, since it wouldn't make sense to give up the one I still had on the Civic. It looked like I was going to get a Kia Rio, since the price was right, and it was a pretty nice car. I decided to go to Curry, just to see what they had. The only thing that was close to my price range, which was around $10,000, was the Yaris S, at $12,000. The sales guy asked me what I needed it to be at, I told him. he said he didn't think they could go that low, but he'll check. He comes back and say they could do the deal. I asked to see the numbers. They lowered the price of the Yaris to $11,300, then gave my $15,500 for the Civic(previous best offer was $14K from the Kia dealer). Since the trade in was more than the new car, I didn't have to pay sales tax. When it was all said and done, it was $10,500 out the door with a payment of $183/month.

They really wanted my Civic, and had the Yaris for 42 days and really wanted to sell it. It was a right place, right time thing.

I spent about 3 1/2 hours at the dealership working the deal. For the first time in my life, I came out ahead when buying a car!

What happened to the other $900. 15,500 - 13,800 = 1,700. 11,300 - 1,700 = 9,600. The difference between out the door of $10,500 and 9,600 is $900.

I don't have the paperwork on me, but there were the usual dealer fees, even though it was a used car. Prep, etc.

They way I looked at it, i got a car with a KBB of $15K+ for $10.5K. Pretty good deal to me.

Yeah, regardless of what the missing $900 went for, you got a KILLER deal in my opinion.
