As I noted in another post (Yaris vs Corolla), I'm considering trading in a "clunker" to purchase a Yaris if/when the U.S. "Cash for Clunkers" program passes. However, the timing of the "Clunkers" program will likely be after July 6, which is apparently when the current $1000 rebate incentive expires. Does anyone have any insight into what (if any) incentives will be put in after July 6th? I have to think something will remain, given the current market...

The economy is in a nose dive. There will be more incentives. The auto industry is one of the important economic indicators.

The info that I have isn't exactly what you're looking for but I figured I'd share it anyway.
When I bought my Yaris in March '09, I used a voucher from the State of Texas called an "AirCheck Texas Voucher". It's a program for people who's cars are 10 years old or older or for cars that have failed an emissions test in the last 30 days. The voucher was good for $3,000 towards the purchase of a new car.
You might check with your state to see if they have anything like this. As I understand it, this is separate from any federal money that's made available.
Good luck,
S.R.

There is not $1,000 rebate on the Yaris, and there's a $1,500 rebate on the Corolla.

One of my work associates got real interested in Yaris after I bought my 2009 3DR in early May. To our surprise there is not a new 3DR manual transmission to be found in Bay Area California at least as of two weeks ago. I reminded him that I needed to course the Neveda border to find one with my required feature preferences. But not being able to find the 3DR base model with manual in our area seemed a little odd. Either the Yaris is selling well out here, or Toyota marketing / dealer order process made several errors went projecting demand

when i got mine, in April the Northern Cali. Incentive was and is the same as the current one, either 1k off cash, or 0 apr 5 years. then they went to 2.9 5years, 0apr 3 years, now back to 1k off cash or 0apr 5 years. Shows you dont really have to worry...

this ticks me off terribly. I had a 2000 Jeep grand cherokee limted that i unloaded for 3500 bux had every option .. i just felt fuel efficiency was more important since i didnt have anything to tow anymore. So now they come out with this and i could have ended up paying less for my new car. day late and dollar short. stupid gov.
supposedly you get a $4500 rebate toward a new car on the jeep that i had.
