Hello all, just bought a new '09 Yaris last night. Traded in my 2006 Tacoma X-Runner in order to save money (payment, fuel, and insurance). It's a Yellow Jolt 3 door LB, automatic with the power pack and 15" alloy wheels. I have two other "play" vehicles: a 4-speed 1969 Road Runner convertible and a 1988 Monte Carlo SS. The Yaris will be my daily driver and I hope to get 40 mpg with this car as I commute 50 miles a day to and from my job. I shall enjoy reading and learning from those on the forums about these little cars.

Regards,
Scott

Congrats on the new buy and welcome to the site. ^_^ I've only been on it for about a month since I bought my Yaris.. and it's definitely proven to be a useful tool.

Alright, welcome to the forums! You'll have a lot of fun with these cars.

Great to hear, Scott. I too have mine as my daily driver and travel just under your daily milage as well. Being a gear-head myself, that won't last long and the modding will begin shortly, lol. Good luck and come to the dark side (supercharger, turbo haha), there is plenty of knowledge here and there is plenty of knowledge on saving some cash on gas too.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes! I will take some pics within the next few days if you folks are interested.

KCALB SIRAY - if I wasn't trying to save money, I'd definitely be down with a turbocharger or supercharger installation. I'm sure they really wake up the acceleration on these cars.

PreciousPups4U - Is yellow an unpopular color among Yaris fans? I wasn't sure about it at first, but now it is growing on me. My Road Runner is also yellow, by the way.

ROCKLAND TOYOTA - thanks for the Summer Slam invite...can you tell me more details (or fwd me to a current thread) about it?

auxmike - okay, it seems there is some interest in pics. I will get some up soon, I promise!

Welcome! :headbang:

Yellow isn't usually my favorite color but I bet it looks real good on a Yaris LB. Most definitely post some pics!:thumbsup:

tomato and fnkngrv, I promise I'll post some pics up soon. Yellow probably would not have been my first choice, but this was the right car at the right time. It is growing on me, although I am getting ribbed at work for it.

Yaris Hilton - not an "S" model, although I wish it was! They look great with the fog lamps in the front fascia and the spoiler on the back!

what color is the interior? in regards to idiots and their comments...I got plenty too for the Jade Sea Metallic, but after peeps warmed up to it they love it.

I wanted a silver Yaris, but it took me seconds to decide I love the Absolutely Red on a Yaris.

I honestly think the Yaris LB looks great in any color, especially bright colors, because it's small (well relatively small) and has a whimsical look.

The interior color code is FC18. The seats are like a dark charcoal color and the dash/plastic trim is a light gray shade. I will snap a pic of the inside as well. First planned additions would be to add the brushed aluminum sill plates and grab some OE Yaris floor mats for the car.

I would like to see what Jade Sea Metallic looks like - it sounds like an attractive color. I've got thick skin and the Yaris is the car for me right now, so I don't pay much attention to the nay-sayers and nugget busters. Circumstances being what they are, I am quite happy with the purchase so far.

this was the right car at the right time.Isn't that a wonderful thing?!?!? A month ago if someone told me I'd dump my MINI Cooper in a heartbeat and buy a Yaris, I'd have said they were nuts. But alas, it is so...the car is great, and I could not be more thrilled!!!

I agree with you on the bright colors. I've been poking about on the site here and found pics of a cool orange Yaris (which I like as well), but I didn't see that color on any of the dealer lots here...must be a pretty scarce hue.

The orange was only available in Canada, and I think for a short time. It's Copper Orange Mica I believe.

Does not seem to be many available in yellow. Of course it is a new color for 2009 and maybe they are testing the waters to see how the color goes before making a bunch of them. At least it makes you unique. That's one of the reasons I went with Bayou Blue, I have only seen one other of those around here.

My daughter would love the Road Runner. She's a muscle car fan. The RR and the Chargers are her favorites.

06-08 in canada...

i wish we got the jolt yellow up here....or the carmine red

i see plenty of all colours of yaris up here (lots and lots of 5drs) so its hard to say whether there's actually a rare colour, other than orange (which, btw, is not that impressive looking in real-life)

would have been nice to get some of the updated colours north of the border to freshen up the yaris line a bit...

ryank and thebarber, thanks for clearing that up. That would explain why I haven't seen any here in New Jersey. Seems like a very attractive color, but then I am quite partial to orange.

PreciousPups4U - thank you...this was the only yellow car between two Toyota dealers. I suppose that does make it unique - although I was hoping to fly under the radar with black. I am surprised they don't make the Yaris available in Speedway Blue (Tacos come in this hue) - these cars would look quite comely in that color!

The Road Runner is my never-ending project car and I've owned it since I was 21. It's a Sunfire Yellow 4-speed convertible with a black top and black interior. I've been a Mopar fanatic since I was a teenager (I am speaking of classic stuff here, not Neons and Calibers). Suffice to say, it's mileage is a bit lower than the Yaris'. But, it's a bit faster.:burnrubber:

That is my Jade Sea....I don't really keep the site up to date as I have more of a life than just the web...funny how many people out there live and die by sites like CarDomain. Anyway, I love the color of my car. They only real problem is that the paint job Toyota puts from the factory sucks ass and is scratched very easily. I am kind of worried because I had a friend store it while I am ovre her in Afghanistan and my wife told me that it is filthy cause he never got the car cover for it like he was going to...long story, a deal we had, should have known better and bought the cover myself.

BTW....still waiting on your pics!:thumbsup:

Good luck with your car as the more you drive it, the more you will like it !

LOVE that color!! Looks great! That's another one I haven't seen here in NJ. Toyota of Turnersville only had black, silver and carmine Yarises. After viewing your pics, you have me thinking that perhaps I should tint the two side windows and the hatch glass of my car as well. I do think the paint issue is a Toyota thing and not necessarily just a Yaris issue. The factory paint on my Tacoma X-Runner (Black Sand Pearl) did not seem to hold up really well, either. It was subject to rock chips, damage from insect guts, sandblasting, dull paint on the front bumper cover, no 3M protection on rear flares so they got blasted with road debris (most in under 15k miles). These were all common complaints over on the xr-underground forums. Get that car cover!

Thank you for the kind words! Actually, I probably would not have gotten such a bright color, but it was the only one immediately available ! Although, I am getting used to it. One thing I love about the car already is the super gas mileage!

LOVE that color!! Looks great! That's another one I haven't seen here in NJ.

They were not actually supposed to sell the S model for 2007 in the color. It was a mistake at the factory however it does match the VIN...kind of wild.

I like the yellow....lots of potential if you do a few mods, and they don't have to be expensive ones either. Def start out with tint. Makes life much better all the way around.:w00t:

A Yellow Jolt in NJ?????!!!!!

Gotta be South Jersey or did you build one onlined and have it delivered? Haven't seen one up here due to the fact that Yellow isn't as popular up north than it is down south. I would have chosen it, but it's too flat of a color for me, not like what's pictured in the brochure.

Welcome BTW!

Also, if you don't mind driving, you should come to the Rockland Toyota/Scion show on the 19th. Near the border of Northern Jersey by the Palisades Mall. I personally would love to see it up close (closest I saw was at a dealer in FL by the gas station I was at filling up).

Hello and yes, I am in South Jersey. The car was dealer stock and a demo with 3600 miles on it, they (supposedly) used it to transport people home that were having service work performed in the shop. It was the only yellow vehicle on the lot and this is the only yellow Yaris that I've personally seen to this point. If I'd had my choice, I probably would have went with blue, but it certainly is growing on me.

Thanks for the welcome, and ROCKLAND TOYOTA (the forum member) invited me to the Summer Slam show on July 19. Not sure I can make it yet but I would sure like to attend. How many Yarises will be there I wonder?

Welcome! I've got 2 Yarii, an '07 auto (meteorite metallic) and an '09 manual (carmine red metallic). Even with my modifications and normal driving style I can pull 35mpg without trying in the auto, and over 40mpg in the manual (which is stock). If you'd be interested I have some yellow yarisworld.com vinyl decals (or other colors) available.

On a side note, the stupid dealer where I got my '09 from just screwed the front plate to the car, they didn't bother using the adapter, so now it points up at an angle

Nice collection...and I was curious as to the plural form of "YARIS", lol. I certainly would not have minded a 5-speed Yaris. My X-Runner (actually, all X-Runners) was a 6-speed manual and was quite fun to drive daily. I hope to be able to achieve 40mpg with this A/T-equipped car. How does one obtain a Yarisworld sticker?

Perhaps some slightly larger screws along with the bracket could be used to correct the angle situation?

I see you have a '71 Galaxie - my first car was almost a '70 XL convertible with the 390-4bbl. Cool car with hidden headlights and plenty of bottom end torque. Alas, my father didn't like the Louisiana inspection sticker or the pond-scum line around the bottom of the car! Arrrgh!

Just send me a PM. It's $7/set, or $3.75/ea. I made a few for another jolt yellow member, but they seemed to have vanished.

The '71 Galaxie was my Mom's car, and I got it for Christmas when I was 15. Originally it had a 351 Windsor V8 2bbl but that died after 215k miles. It's been in storage the past few years, and it now has a 351M/400 with only 40k miles on it now. Next will be body work, then interior work. Just wish I had the funds to really fix it up.

I just bought a 2009 Yaris, 3 door, last week, I love it but it is so quiet that I am having a hard time finding the optimal shift points for the manual transmission. I don't have a tach, any suggestions for propper shift speeds? I am getting 35-38 mpg just driving around town and out to my farm. I bought the Yaris because I had a Toyota Starlet that I really loved, the Yaris is quite a leap from the Starlet.
