View Full Version : Good Chicagoland dealer?

I've been reading the reviews on local dealers in the northern Chicagoland area and all of the Toyota dealers get terrible reviews. Can anyone recommend a dealer that does not get bad reviews? Is this normal for Toyota? Seriously, not one of them gets rated higher than one star on Google or Edmunds.

You should post this in the "Great Lakes" forum.

I bought from the Elmhurst dealer and was really happy, I did it through Steve the online rep.

Here's an update: I contacted a three of the dealers mentioned and asked a few basic questions. I pretended not to know about the Yaris, or any of the Toyota programs. Two of the dealers did not know anything about the Toyota programs/incentives. One of the dealers was so in the dark that he asked me where he could learn about Toyota's current offerings and was surprised to learn that Toyota's website was located at http://www.toyota.com. He then asked if I was the manager in charge of the incentive program. I wish I was making this up.

The third dealer I contacted, Arlington Toyota, was extremely knowledgeable. The dealer I spoke with answered my questions with detailed responses. He knew about every Toyota program in If all goes as planned I will be purchasing a Yaris at the Arlington Toyota dealership in 2-3 weeks.

WTH?? I almost don't believe this, are you sure you were talking to a toyota dealer or a receptionist who knows nothing lol? How could they not know about incentives or toyota.com...

Yes, I was talking to one of the dealership's online sales rep. The fact that the online rep didn't know about toyota.com added a bit of humor to my day.

I just put a down payment in for a Jolt Yellow Yaris hatchback with the power package, keyless entry, and cruise control. I ended up going with Lombard - they gave me a better deal. (Thanks for the recommendations staypuft).

This is beginning to look like a blog.

Lombard couldn't get the Yaris I requested, or any other Yaris hatchback. They refunded my deposit. Looks like I'm still on the search for a dealer.

It's disappointing because it means I won't be able to get a jolt yellow hatchback.

That sucks, have you tried Elmhurst? As I said, Steve online was awesome with me, even though we went back and forth at least 10 times about the price (I was persistant and annoying!) And on top of that my dad is stingy and went with me to the dealer and got the price even lower... I could tell you the exact price and options I got at elmhurst as comparison (probably thursday though). I know it wasn't the best deal from reading this forum, but as I said, we changed the price a LOT and they were nice about it.

Also they have a new owner event and you get free things and a free car wash lol.

Try Pauly Toyota.. its out my my area in Crystal Lake, IL. Kinda far from you probably but they seem alright... its a huge lot and I see like 10-12 Yarises or more on the lost sometimes.

Here's their website...

Guess you lined up with a decent dealer and came home with the car !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Enjoyed reading about the dealers who seemed to know nothing !

Good luck with your new car.

Thanks, guys!

I would up buying the car at Grossinger Toyota North. They weren't as straight forward as Arlington or Lombard, but they did have the car I wanted in stock: a hatchback with the power package and the comfort / mat additions. The only reason I went with them over the other two was because they had the car and they are only ~30 minutes away.

I paid $200 over invoice which wasn't the greatest price. Grossinger is pretty high pressure in the sales department, but they're polite about it. Since I work in sales at the moment I wasn't too bothered by the sales. It did take a long time to get everything settled: I came at 10AM and went home at ~3PM.

Congrats on your Yaris LB! It looks great, and the MM color was a good choice. The three-door is my favorite of the Yaris models.
