Well, this is my first post here, so hello everyone!

I own a Yaris with the new 1NR-FE engine. I would like to find out what are the tuning options that we, owners of a 1NR-FE engine, have.

It seems to me that not even an air intake has been made for this engine yet, so I'm posting here in case some of you have got some lucky find.

I'm pretty sure I am not the only one having this engine here and interested in tuning options, so let's post here everything we've got.

NEW ENGINE means NO parts yet......

Unless this new engine gets to the US in any other Toyota, then probably will never have any aftermarket support...

I'm lucky that the yaris TS shares the engine with the US scion xD and Corolla

Welcome bro !! post a pic of what the engine bay looks like, maybe there are similarities. We have got those engines in our new corolla's its a 73kw 1300cc if i remember correctly , a dual VVT 1300.

you might find , things like the motor pullies are the same , but that would be about it for the engine , as it is orientated 180degrees too the 1NZ-FE and the 2NZ-FE.but all the suspension compenents will be the same .

if this is the case then going turbo will be a LOT easier for you

βρε συ... αυτό το μοτέρ δεν το έχουν στην αμερική.
ούτε η blitz δεν το ξέρει. στο λέω γιατί ρώτησα για κάτι.

Guys, I know it is a new engine and this means there are no parts yet.

However, I started this thread because I am pretty sure that there might be similarities with older engines in some parts.

The member Kongo-Otto has posted some engine bay pics here: http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showpost.php?p=322873&postcount=64

Thanks

I've the same engine (from Piedmont - italy)

it works very well & push enough, even if I miss a lot the "kick in the ass" typical of turbo charged engines

anyway the car runs really smooth & comfortable to drive even if it has a sort of nightmare clutch/gear combination (6 speed)... expecially when cold from 1st to 2nd gear is a disaster, you can't shift at too high ranges (already changed with Redline MT-90)

if you need some specific info feel free to ask

my actual mods are:

1. ZX1 anti-attrite (everywhere)
2. Redline MT-90 gear oil (a bit better)
3. UltraRacing 19mm rear sway bar... thx Garm :headbang:
4. K&N Air panel (no. 33-2211)

planning mods:

1. new & lighter rims
2. new rotors/pads set
3. I'd like to try crank pulley but I'm not sure it will fit...

bye,
davide

Any news and mods for that engine?

I'm looking for a "serious" intake... something like Fujita

this should fit

This cant fit because the 1NR-FE has the exhaust header at the front and the intake manifold in the back. Something new has to be developed for this engine.

yep, you're right but it was just an example... I was thinking that was possible to adapt some other "simple" intake, but perhaps it's too complex

anyway I studied the situation again and I was thinking also to leave untouched the original airbox, just (as I did) replace the OEM filter with the K&N (33-2211 model) and removing the original arm...

as you know the original arm seems too thin & above all it doesn't turn close to the floor, so it sucks (almost) warm air

the idea was to remove the OEM arm & installing something like RamII (80mm section) downturing it close to the floor near the right fog lamp

do you have some other ideas??

Its thin and surprisingly short but you dont have to remove it for intake air temperature issues because there are none. I measured the intake temperature with a Scangauge II. Its warm while you are not driving but as soon as you are moving it sucks cold air. :w00t:

so you think is useless to enlarge arm section?

Kongo-Otto

I would replace the whole thing or leave it that way with a drop-in filtre.

With an engine that has compression ratio 11,5:1 we must do something with the induction and the exhaust.
I have installed the tanabe concept-g axleback exhaust, it fits ok except for the longer rubber hangers needed. Very quiet for a tanabe, but far better than the stock one.
I believe that with a well designed exhaust manifold, a new cat and a suitable piping, along with an better induction the engine will get probably 20 hp.
I hope tuners will start tune the 1nr-fe, even for the IQ and not the yaris. The gazoo racing has tried compressor on the 1nr-fe

ckiriako: what was the benefit of installing the tanabe exhaust ? is there some increase of the horsepower ? what about the consumtion and sound ?
thanks
