When I got my Yaris in 2006, my little (and very little then) cousin (whom I love like a daughter) had just turned 4 and loved to treat my car like her own exploration module.....searching every nook and cranny of the interior of the car, opening and closing all the storage compartments and the dash cup holders......and using the handles above the side windows like a set of gymnastics rings (all with either her mother or moi keeping an eye on her). She also would decorate plastic eggs, name them, give them biographies, and store them in the various storage compartments. Those were the days.

I've seen a lot of interesting forum names here on YW and always wished i knew what it stood for. I thought it would be cool to start a new topic on this. Post your forum name and explain it, simple. If this has already been done, then my bad. I'll start it off.
Aspro: means "white" in Greek. My Yaris is white.

Saw it somewhere, like graffiti, but you know how hard graffiti can be to read. Probably no meaning.
I use it because it's always available.

I don't know Italian but if it also is a word in Italian and means sour then that works too. Double name bonus ftw.

Wait, it's coming back to me! Animaniacs: West Side Pigeons. There was a character, not exactly "sheekeebut", but when we saw the graffiti, we cracked up because of the quote (we were like 15 years old, so yeah) .

Huh thought I posted in that old username thread, guess I didn't. Astroman came about after my 1st YW account failed to let me post in '07, and I also had an '87 Chevy Astro van. Since van rhymed with man, and reminded me of astro boy, I came up with astroman, which let me log in and post. I'm glad the 1st account never worked, it was a really stupid name like Yaris509 or something. (509 has been the area code I've lived in most my life.)

Killchain
10-06-2014, 11:20 PM
Killchain, is a military/CIA term of a "chain" from the lowly scout/operative in some foreign country seeing the "bad guy" sending a message all the way to the presidents office of taking "action" on the bad guy. From the highest office all the way back down the chain to that lowly scout/operative to do whats needed.
I was always taken by the word and its meaning. I know some people don't like it but I do.

'Kalispel' is the name of a Native American tribe, and also one of my go-to MMORPG character names.
It is also the name of a city in a beautiful part of Montana (I stayed there after driving the Going-to-the-Sun Highway through Glacier National Park...before I had my Yaris). The city name is taken from the tribe. I drove through Pend Orielle County in Washington (where the tribes other reservation is located) this last summer...also a beautiful area.

Full disclosure about my handle: It is my Imperial operating designation. I am a stormtrooper clone serving directly under lieutenant Pol Treidum (RIP) and stationed in the original Death Star previous to the... incident.
And no, I am not a member of the 501st Legion, as 99% of them are nothing but a sham. I am the real deal; just ask around and see for yourself.

 I do as well. So many sales reps, clerks, etc. who are employed by most businesses are relatively unprepared to answer questions...and I can tell by the way they respond that few people ask them questions on anything but an extremely basic level. The only exception to this I can think of (off the top of my head) is Apple.

True. But I don't think you need to be an apple sales rep to know everything about their products. Knowing apples products in today's day in age is like knowing how to speak English.

Hmm, I had never thought of it that way before...
You guys had best learn a few other languages, keeps other parts of the world open to you -- and you to them.
Anyway, this Android user says he prefers languages other than English. But he knows he must improve on his English.

I wish they would have taught foreign languages in all our school systems, but they just don't. It is much harder to learn them when you are older. Learning multiple languages when you are young changes the way you think and it is one of many things our current totally worthless school systems are lacking.

10-09-2014, 10:59 PM
Well, as I've been told countless times by my seniors, everything gets tougher as you get older, wouldn't you agree?
As for our school system, I don't know what it's like where you are, but after realising how bad my education was, I have taken it upon myself to strive towards lifelong learning and showing my kid that learning can not only be fun and existing, but it's absolutely essential and is limited only by one's attitude. Sounds hokey, but whatever.

Perhaps Apple is no longer a good example. Not recently, but in the past I've had a fair number of questions result in the lower ranking rep having to ask a person at the Genius Bar. I'd think 'I've got them stumped', but the' Genius' always knew the answer.

Android FTW! Done using apple since last year. Huge fan of the moto products. Waiting patiently for the second gen moto X.
Multiple languages are key. I'm Canadian born to Greek parents and they were insistant I learn Greek. Although grueling for me growing up having to attend Greek school on a Saturday, I sure as hell appreciate it now. Wish I paid more attention in French class, to be trilingual would be a major asset.

There was also a double meaning to that statement: the modern commoners now know Apple. If I don't, I can't communicate with like 3/4 of all the people I know.
You're right about the Moto products. My Moto G was just $150, but runs like any flagship phone out there. Maybe their awesome prices has something to do with Motorola being tossed around among acquisitions. First Google, then some Chinese company, then who knows.
