Just changed my YARIS order to a 5 door, 5 speed in bayou blue. Added the convenience and weather packages, carpet mats and a first aid kit.

Nice! Great color, you'll love it. Although maybe I'm biased.

I disagree. The extra doors are really a nice option to have.
What's the first aid kit, though?

What's the first aid kit, though? Its just a first aid kit band aids and crap like that, goes in the car.

Sorry about that, didn't realize Toyota decided to let the US market have the 5 door 5 speed for model year 2010. It's new news to me.

Hey tomato! haha, thank you! I've been a pure honda person since I got my license.. (which isn't really long, I've owned only two cars. lol) However, the rest of my family owns toyotas and man they are just as if not more reliable than hondas. The Yaris is REALLY starting to grow on me too. The more I roam this thread, the more I want one. I really enjoy my current civic, but I commute 60+ miles roundtrip everyday for school, so some better gas mileage would be really nice. Plus, I think it's time for a newer car. Hopefully I'll be posting up in this "new purchase" section in the very near future!

If you need the rear seat, which you obviously do with young kids, you will appreciate the extra doors. I had a 3 door Mazda 323 when my sons were little, and even though it worked okay with the rear facing child seat, rear doors would have helped. My wife just bought a 3 door and I drive a sedan.

Are the front doors shorter width wise with the 5 door version?

They are. The front doors on a 5 door are 41" long and 49" long on a 3 door. There's something about the shape of the rear window, that to me, makes a 3 door look sportier than a 5 door. But, having two kids myself, I would not give up the convenience of the 5 door.

Make sure you test drive one to be sure before signing the papers ;)
Hondas and Toyotas are good cars:thumbsup:
Enjoy the forum!

You should totally convert to a Toyota, better yet a Yaris

I like the look of the 3dr model better. But I've come to miss having direct access to the backseat through a door (only owned 4dr sedans before). Oh well. Next time!

I went to buy my Yaris today, and was told that it would take months for a white, 3 door, to make it to Canada. Thats just BS.
Then I was told, if I wanted a car before January, then I should take a silver car.
I hate when I can't get what I want.
Damn Toyota!

Yes- they are in proportion to a five foor configuration with basically the same vehicle length as the three door.
Sounds like bs. Go online and start looking, and also start calling dealers. I'd be shocked if someone can't find you what you want.

^^^^^ See, rningonfumes was under the same impression I was . Sounds like the 2010 Model Year was the first year the 5-door 5-speed manual was available. I'd imagine since that was the case, that it would have made sense to offer the 5-door 5-speed for the 2011 Model year as well. I believe though that the 3rd Gen (2012-2014) 5-door (except in SE trim) was never available with a manual in the U.S.
