Has anyone researched getting JDM headlights? I did notice the Yaris TS has black headlights... I just want to get rid of the damn reflector

Do a projector retrofit... you already have HID's, so why would you go and drop enormous cheese on an entirely new assembly shipped allllll the way from Japan?

Why the hell not? I like the look of the black TS/JDM headlights

If you have projectors w/ your HID's, the shiny reflective surface in your stock headlight assy is no longer needed and you can paint it black... thus you'd have the same effect as the TS lights at, what, 600 bucks cheaper? Thats why.

That's a very good point, it would be a less expensive approach, I don't guess I've ever seen these TS headlights, are they projectored?

having almost entirely black headlights certainly would go a long way toward "Anti-Blinging" the Yaris, what with the USDM headlights' chrome content

Anyone got a closeup pic of this?

I'm assuming he meant the TS and not the TSpirit... so here we go.

TS headlights
2068
2069

First of all, those headlights still have the reflective surfaces. The differences are that there are no amber turn signal inserts in these lights and the headlights are painted a lot like Hasher's from a while back... it appears to be gray to match the shade of the vehicle. As far as I know the amber turn signal part can be removed, although that is illegal in the states and you don't want to be caught smoking a fatty in the cornfields of Ohio because you took your side markers off. HAHA. The painted cover is easy enough...

I'm assuming what you're going for is more like this... an OEM HID retrofit from, for this example, a Mazda MX-6
2067

In this case, you're already halfway there. All you need to do is find a proper projector... so easy, right? WRONG. I've been reasearching this for WEEKS online and have found very little on purchasing the projectors separate. There is a wealth of information on retrofitting a full system with the projector included, but nothing about what to do if you already have HID's and want to purchase the projectors separate. Anyone have more input on this?

With projectors, however, you can paint/fiberglass the reflective surface on your stockies, and that would look really fucking slick on a Yaris.

I can get the original dual-lamp HID light assembly here, but we're talking close to US$1000 for the pair... not exactly cheap!

they made a duel lamp HID for our bodystyle Yaris? I know they did for the previous bodystyle

yup, sure is... available on the top trim levels here, which may be cheaper, but I do not know if we can get them from toyota... Or, the ones imported from Japan, as I mentioned above.

well here we go, straight off toyota thailand's site:
http://www.ifrance.com/etimago/yaris/photo11.jpg

You can see the reflector housing is a little different, with two "cells" and two bulbs. But overall not a big difference
