Has anyone went thru Overstock.com to purchase their Yaris? In 2008 AFTER I bought mine, I configured my vehicle on their site and it was cheaper than local dealers site. Worth checking out if you are not a good negotiator or just don't want to negotiate.

After reading this I went there. I at least got callbacks from dealers who actually had the car I wanted in stock. Cheaper than other dealers had quoted me too. thanx for teh heads up, it worked for me.

cars.overstock.com (http://cars.overstock.com)
I checked it out, it's great website. It lets you choose your car and options, then provides the sticker price, factory invoice, average of what others paid, an estimated true cost to the dealer. and "your price" which, according to them, is a good price to be paying.
It then lets you choose the "low price guarantee certified dealer" dealers to contact for quotes.
It gave me 3 of them I could contact (one 7 miles away, the others 42) there's a lot of dealerships in the area whom I contacted directly through their websites, but I'll see what quotes I get from these 3.

It seems very similar to AAA buying. Problem for me is no local dealers, and we got a better price through internet sale elsewhere.
hey it's all about getting the best price possible. The more tools to help, the better.

At first i thought I overpaid by a LOT according to overstock's target price, but I looked closer at my invoice and realized they had thrown in a lot of extras (cargo net, carpeted floor mats, rear bumper protector, cold weather package, etc.).. They tried to force me to pay $250 for all of those accessories that I didn't want and I told them to get rid of them and they said they couldn't... When I complained about it they let me have 'em all for free.. And when you add those extras in at cars.overstock, I actually come in BELOW the target price, and the dealer still has to go out of their way to do a long distance dealer swap to get my car in the color that I want..
Don't forget, that the "target price" that cars.overstock has, is AFTER the rebate.. The Toyota invoices show the price of the car BEFORE the rebate. The rebate is later subtracted down at the bottom. So add $750 to the cars.overstock.com Target Price to get the real target price of just the vehicle before the rebate.
The salesperson that gave me the discounts I don't think is a happy camper, he stopped e-mailing me back after I argued so strongly against the accessories. Feel kinda sorry for him since he was a new salesguy, but I've never bought a car before so I'm a new car buyer and I think it's only fair as they couldn't give me exactly what I wanted (I didn't want the accessories to begin with).. In the end, I only got $250 off the MSRP in addition to the rebate, but on a cheap car like a Yaris.. That's a lot of money.
