Possibly purchasing a Yaris

Hello, Im in search of a new car my 1998 Crv's transmssion is dying, and personally with it being 12 years old and 162k miles on it, I don't think its worth fixing, especially with all the other problems it has.

I've been looking around at a list if car's. A 2nd gen CRV is first on my list, But I've recently been looking at the Yaris, I'm amazed at the mileage and resale I've come across. I plan to pay cash, so I'm hoping to get some money knocked down from the advertised prices, I'm not messing with financing this time.

I have 2 kids, a 5 month old and a 3 year old. I'm looking for the 5 door hatchbacks.

What model do you have and How do you like your Yaris? Those with little kids and a 3 door is it hard to get an infant in and out? What kind of MPG's do you get with the Yaris, mostly city or highway driving?

Just a few questions i'd like to hear from. I do deliver for pizza hut for a living, so I'm also looking for fuel efficient. I just haven't fully decided if i want to go down from a SUV to a Yaris. Maybe some imput will help me =]

anyhow I haz the 5door 2010 and it is fine. I also have a 4runner. if the yaris was my only vehicle I would have gotten something bigger, 'cuz I do haul a lot of stuff around once in a while

mileage is better than EPA when the weather is good. lower when it is zero out, snowing, or I am hammering on it

around town you cannot beat the Yaris for maneuverability, it turns on a freaking dime. it isn't sporty so don't play 2fast2furious with it and it is a great all-rounder. plenty of zip to get on the highway, turns super tight so very very easy to park and navigate driveways

how about TOYOTA Matrix or PONTIAC Vibe if you can find one . Big discounts on new VIBES ( or was ) . Should be able to get mileage in the low 30s' . Or how about a SCION XB ? Plenty of room , mileage that hovers about 30 , priced very well for what you get ( $17,000 or less ) , and lots of safety features .

A 5-door Yaris will do you just fine. You don't need anything bigger, and the low cost and high fuel economy will certainly help out both in the short and long term, especially with your current job.

After 3 years I still love my 3 door Yaris, but yes, it is difficult to get an infant in and out of the 3 door model as you are not to place car seats in the fronts of vehicles.

I own a 3-door Yaris Liftback w/ 5-speed manual. I've been averaging 38MPG since I bought my Yaris. I drive about 40% city and 60% highway. The highway traveling I do is nearly stop and go traffic though.

if you are looking for five doors, check out the upcoming iQ too. even better gas mileage, and coming in 5 door as well.

i've a 3 door, it rocks. People don't seem to have too much problem with the back seat, but infants in car seats? I wouldn't want to try that, too akward.

Ive travelled with my friend and her infant child a number of times with my LB, although the 5-door would have made life easier. If it had kids of my own, or even planned on using the back seat more than occasionally, Id definitely go with the 5 door.

Also, as long as youre not planning any long road trips (sans roof rack/bag) the car should be fine with the two kids in general. My car is plenty peppy and roomy with 4 adults in it. You cant beat the gas mileage. Its got one of the shortest turning radii of any car around. Seems ideal for your job too. Oh and get a stick, since your having transmission problems now and autos tend to be less durable. Good luck!

An auto would work for me The Transmission problem isn't from me. I bought it with 152k on it already, so I believe the person before me prolly didn't maintain it properly, I know alot of auto transmissions that are still running with a lot of miles on them from proper maintenance.

I'm on a cav forum lol i used to have one but at 80k 9it was at 60k when i bought it) it was already crapping out. So i got rid of it and came across the CRV.

But I really want a NEW car, and the yaris seems to have what i want and a good price that i can most likely buy it in full with no note =]

Thats one think i thought when i looked at it. I used to think they were funky looking, but I really like the 5 door, and my kids are small and will be for a while it would be plenty of space until i finish school.

first, i'm looking to pay in cash, full. Im not financing, so im looking at what i can get with what i want and a good price. Most will knock some off due to me having cash not financing. I've looked at vibes, to try and get a good deal since the have to sell, but mine aren't budging much on them, plus they're used. Theres no more new local to me.

Well, the Yaris is for now, by time the kids grow bigger it'll prolly be time for a new car. Im looking for something cheap that i can buy in full to get me by and help us save to purchase a house and after im done with school and out of delivery, the car i really want new.

And our other car is a Versa, its plenty of room.

I have a 08 3 door and its great. My wife has the first gen Scion XB and given my daily miles, I decided it was more important to have the better MPG than a second family car.

The Yaris is surprisingly roomy on the inside and we have made 600+ mile vacation trips in the car. (lots of stuff can go under the seats, in the glove boxes and bins and in the spare tire well)
I transitioned from a 4 Runner sized SUV and to make up for the cargo capacity, I added a trailer hitch bar and lightweight hitch basket.

I get 40-45 during the week (mostly highway) and on the weekends can still carry lots of odd stuff with the hatch.

WOW! you totaly need a yaris 5 door. i just got min the other day (2010 4 door liftback) and it would be perfect for you. the room is amazing in that little guy and i havent been able to calculate MPGs but from what i have read ull be happy. PLUS the cost of ownership is so low, replacing tires on this care would be 200 bucks! love it!

your kids would have more than enough room in the back and delivering pizzas would be a breeze cause it so easy to get in and out of that car. I love it and you will too!

What turns me from the sedan is that I don't like the integrated deck ans I don't like sedans.

I went to my local Toyota tonight after work. The sales guy hadn't heard of the 5-door, when i asked he took me to a 3-door. Supposedly its not for my region, so I'll have to order it. But I test drove the 3-door he had, and oh how I can say I loved it!!! I do believe I am going to get one, hopefully a 5-door, but we shall see when my returns come and see how much me and my husband can save, we both deliver. And We're both going to pick up as many extra hours as we can to make bigger paychecks and more tips.

haha.. don't look at my dealers site. I went up there, because i saw that. They don't have it. =/ The only get 3 door and Sedans. But He talked to the upper guy and he said they can order it for me.
