Hello everyone, new member here. I am going to get my new baby today, hopefully. I was wondering what you guys think of my deal that i am sitting on right now.

2010 3 door manual with power package (PQ), all weather package and the floor mats (:frown:). The sticker is $15,297. They offered me invoice pricing of $14,586. Im going to get $499 for my trade because its a POS (95 saturn with 137k, body damage, no stereo (taking it out to put in the yaris because its worth more than the saturn)) and then the $1,000 graduation rebate, so the car price comes to $13,087. Then tax (7%, 986.09), government fee (86.25) and a document/dealer fee (299). That brings the total out of pocket to $14,458.20, and with 0% financing for 60 months works out to about $240 a month. I dont think its too bad, but that is what i was offered at another dealer in town. The only thing is, I cannot find another 3 door in black anywhere within 500 miles of here.

I'm meeting them tonight to finalize on it, but here is what I'm thinking, ask them to do take $14,000 for my total financing cost, that means drop another $450 or so off of the car. If they offer me $14,250 ill take it, but I really want the car they have so I might even cave at their current offer.

So any thoughts?:help:

You can't negotiate when your in love and your in love, If you want the car for $14,000 then you need to be able to make that offer to them and be able to get up and walk. Tell them to call you when they can do the $14000. Toyota has big problems on top of the economy, like "RECALL". Your in the drivers set. Just because they won't do the deal tonight @ $14000, I thinking in a few days they will. You need to Man/Women up and realize you may not have the car for the weekend and that's OK. Fall out of love for a few days and good luck.

Your out the door price is still below invoice price. Personally I think it's a good deal.

It's great to hear that you are not caving into the media sensationalism surrounding Toyota and are going through with the purchase. I would really play that card (not in an obnoxious way, but I would make sure that the dealer realizes that you are really doing them a favor). Also, if another dealer had matched their price, make sure that you present that when trying to negotiate that last $450 off. When I bought mine I also got them to throw in a case of oil filters, as I would be changing my own oil and not taking advantage of their 5 free oil changes, that they were offering at that time.

Story update: I got an offer for 14,200 out the door by another dealer in town on a gray one. I'm thinking to see if I can get them to match it or throw in a TRD sway bar or springs if they cant match the price

Gray Yaris FTW  That's what I got. Cars get hot in the summer anyway, but with a black one you're doomed  Just my $0.02...

When I bought mine I looked for the basic version, manual, no radio, etc. I found it, I liked it, it was exactly what I was looking for and then when I was negotiating with the guy, I was like, look, it's a manual, who is going to buy this? And it has no radio  the guy was complaining that they only make like $450 profit on these cars, it's not even worth selling them. Whatever

I'm not a good negotiator, if the price is fair I'll pay it, won't try to get the best deal. I have a co-worker here that got a new VW Touareg for like $40k and got the salesman fired for that deal...

.

I agree with that. ^
Plus the silver ones look absolutely, fabulously awesome if you ask me
Silver was my first choice, but the red one was a better deal, so I got red instead.

Congrats on graduating, too! :headbang:

Tell them thanks but that is a lil more than you want to spend.Decide what you want to spend tell them that price and call you when and only when they will sell for that price..I bet your phone will ring within a few hrs to come get your new Yaris..Play hard ball they do..Don't let them keep the keys to your trade in that way you can get up and leave when they are being stuborn..

haha, it worked, 14,000 out the door. I walked in told them what i had found, and what I wanted to buy the car right then. This was about 5:30 pm and it was their first sale of the day, he said normally they do 8-10 on a weekday, not just one. I got the 5yr 100,000 bumper to bumper coverage for an extra $1200 w/ $0 deductible and added that into the financing. Not a bad deal with 0%

I just got done putting in my stereo, but im pissed because I had a trunk and grounded my amp to the roof of the trunk in my old car, now my ground cable is too short, so i will go have to pick up some more supplies tomorrow to fix that, but the head unit works fine, just need to get the dash kit to cover in the holes on the side.

Congratulations on your purchase! Was that the black one?
I was thinking black, but then decided on Meteorite Metallic. I've had a black
car and a black pickup truck. They don't look so nice when they aren't
kept clean. The grey looks a little dull when dirty, like this winter, but I
think the road salt looked worse on the black.

But you know

:needpics:

Post some pics of your car and radio install.

It is the black one. Thats all i heard from my dad about it, "I hope you have enough money in the bank for a car wash every week"

Ok, ill get my iphone out and shoot some pics. The radio install isnt sexy yet, because i didnt have the dash kit, im still deciding between the new entire bezel or the dash kit that puts the black things on the side.

Im realizing how loucky i was to have a local carmax that was a new toyota dealer. I went to my nearby dealer and for a Base 3dr Manyual w convenience package + weather packg + no floor mats the lowest i could talk them down to was like 12,800 BEFORE taxes and frees with them its was like 13,800. Which is still below invoice.

Then i went to car max. Found the color i wanted.

NO haggling. for the same car PLUS floormats. $12,435 OUT THE DOOR.

i got my own financing through credit union, but carmax doesn't care cuz they dont really "sell" financing i.e. make huge profits off it with a percetage of markup.

The 0% financing was a huge deal to me. I just graduated college and have little credit because i owe a lot on my loans for school. Having 0% interest saves a 4-6k depending on what rate I could have gotten, but that is what really sold me.

I actually bought it at Jeff Wyler in clarksville, even after the higher tax (1%) it was cheaper. I had heard some horror stories from Oxmoor, and Toyota of Louisville only had a red 3 door, so I pitted all 3 dealers against each other on the price, but I really wanted the black one at Jeff Wyler, but I didnt let them know that. After i got the 14,200 price from Oxmoor they wanted me to come in and talk, but I told them I might come in later, so after I bought the car from Wyler, I got a call from the sales guy at Oxmoor and he asked if I bought the car and I told him yes, so he said "Well im glad that I could help you get your car cheaper." and then he hung up on me. I dont think they were too excited to lose a sale, especially right now.

Jesus thats a long run on sentence, but i dont feel like fixing it.

we got out sedan from jeff wyler and we wont have our car serviced at any other dealership. i got my lb at toyota of louisville and they were very unfriendly people buuuut i really wanted the car. i bought it off the showroom floor and of course i had to pick the most pricey one. i traded in a mitsubishi lancer for my lb and they had to add what i still owed on it onto my loan too. it was worth it tho cuz im a lot happier with the yaris.

Thats good to hear. I never made it over to the service department so i dont know if they have them or not. I did notice a big scuff on the side of my car so it looks like im going to have to take a trip up to get that fixed. hopefully they wont give me shit because i noticed it the night i bought it

well its my daily driver, but ive got a few things planned. Lowering springs for sure. I also want to do some sort of pin striping on the car. I've got the colors set with black, white and yellow. I also want to get the windows tinted, lots of cosmetic things, not necessarily performance related.

DandiDani
02-06-2010, 09:57 PM
yeah i only plan on cosmetic things too. it will be great to have another modded yari in the area tho bcuz i was starting to think that me, RHDVIPbB, and my husband were the only ones.lol.

I'm not the most mechanically inclined person in the world, but i know my way around a car. I changed the transmission in my saturn and replaced the cylinder head as well, so I think i can do pretty much anything I need to. I'm thinking about getting some springs really soon and finishing up my stereo install (sub is not working for some reason). I am also going to make my own japanese license plate for the front of the car soon as well. What all have you done to yours so far?

Ok, im riding without a dash kit now, its in the mail. I put my sub control knob in the panel by the e-brake. My sub sits in the back, but I can move it around if I need to.

Here is the beginnings of the striping on my car. Got the hood and the top done tonight, hopefully more to come tomorrow.
