Im very new to doing anything to a car. Ive looked this site over and you all are very helpful. I have a black 3 door 08 yaris With 31,000 miles on it. My wife bought it for me 2 months ago and im just now getting the itch to make it my own. Ive looked over all the engine cover pics and have decided on a pic of my own but i need to no if you have to use some special high heat paint or what kind to use. Thanks for the input. I will post pics as soon as i get started painting

I used a japanese model paint on mine. It's been 3 months and still looks like the day I painted it, so I doubt you need high temp paint.

I don't know where the thread is, but there is an entire thread dedicated to painted engine covers. You may be able to pull it up by searching - there was a lot of really cool info in that thread!! :)

I painted mine last summer with a plastic primer and automotive paint that matches the color of my car. There's no sign of discoloration, so I'd say that high temp paint is not necessary.

No. Just a good quality automotive paint.
