Why don't you just get the HB's head gasket repaired under warranty?
Seems a lot for a new 2010 Yaris. I can buy a new 2010 Corolla LE, automatic for under $14K all day long here in Orange County... without negotiating.

There are 4 Toyota stealerships in a 200 mile radius of me and I can tell you that you WILL not get a Corolla for under 19k. I have checked. Personally it drives me nuts that it is assumed that the Corolla is so accessible for so cheap. In the Northeast, especially New England you will not get deals like that normally, just doesn't happen. As for the head gasket...I am confused as well. Why not get it fixed? If you do trade the car you will have to disclose the head gasket issue anyway. If you do not and they figure it out, which they should as I would think that a close to new car will fall under the certified used program you can be prosecuted for nondisclosure of a mechanical failure such as that. Either way, best of luck. I wouldn't wish anyone to be in your predicament with a close to new ride. Serious bummer.

As for your depreciation I know what you mean about that sucking ass. I just refinanced my 07 for 10,300 and I had to fight tooth and nail to get that. They started at only wanting to give me 7800. I have never seen a Toyota lose so much value as now. Really sucks. I paid 15,910 June of 06 and I have 41k on mine. My car has been rated by local dealerships as excellent for the year. I have a very clean interior, 1 small door ding that can be popped, 1 small scuff on the front lip that can be repaired in a blink, and the motor has had performance synth oil since 7500 miles. Sure the car is 4 years old now from purchase, but to lose half the value...ouch.

The dealership is aware of the head gasket . It's the same dealer where we bought the 2010 3 door and their service department replaced the 2008 head gasket . She'd rather have a sedan than another liftback . I agree a COROLLA is out of range . There are no rebates for the COROLLA , only .09 % . We actually prefer the YARIS sedan over the COROLLA .

Yikes! I can get a new 2011 Camry, automatic for under $18K.

Test drove a 2010 COROLLA LE and a 2010 PACIFIC BLUE sedan . The seat of the COROLLA creaked loudly and the YARIS made a clicking noise from the dash in the area of fuse box behind the pull out pocket every time the brake was applied with the car running or not . That's a 1st for all the YARII we've owned / own or test drove in the past . The YARIS was manufactured in 9/09 , shipped from another dealer , and had a 115 miles on it . Seems like a long time for that car to be sitting on both lots . Makes us a bit squeamish . We'll need to go back and test drive a few more COROLLAs and YARIS liftbacks ( no other 2010 sedans on lot or arriving :frown: ) before we possibly make a decision .
