Toyota enjoyed very good sales in 2006 and the Yaris posted serious numbers as well:

Wow, that's really cool! I'm glad the Yaris is doing well! I wonder if the sales sort of slowed because the gas prices kind of dropped or stabilized but I'm sure that won't last long but either way the Yaris is doing well! Great! :headbang:

I know two people waiting for their back ordered yaris's. Had a guy stop me the other day and asked whats the best way to get one. I had to tell him put a down payment and then you'll have to wait a month or two.
that one guy.

Anyone ever wonder that the reason they are slow to get here was because of them wanting to sell Corolla's. Also I think some of the hype left when the gas prices dropped ,like ECHOKnight2000 said b4.

I drive by my dealership a whole lot, like on my way to work, or to Wal-Mart, or to Piggly Wiggly or Food Lion, or Burger King, or, uh, , , anway, I look a lot of times to see what kind of Yarisi (plural for Yaris?) they have for sale. They have NEVER had a Yaris liftback there, except for the one they got there for me and I bought. NEVER. Last time I looked, they had a new batch of 3 or 4 sedans - NO liftbacks. again. Wuddup wit dat?

Toyota expected that close to 80% of all Yaris sales in the states would be sedans. They then went on to project that about three-quarters of those would be automatics.

i wish they would have projected more LB's sold... maybe us LB owners would have had some more bargaining power if there were 6 of em sitting on the lot.

they should have mentioned how many back orders they have for the yaris. I know of several people where I live waiting for their yaris to show up at the dealership.
I believe toyota was only going to make so many yaris's the first year to see just how many people wanted. They may have been concerned that the yaris may have gone the way of the echo and not be that wanted.

I figured I'd throw this in here...

If the LB is doing so well, maybe they'll realize there's a market here for the five-door.
Then again, one of Toyota's weaknesses is actually offering the cars people want in the region where they live. Imagine where their sales would be if they did this.

Mazda's the same way. But you already knew that ar ar ar... (Efini, JDM spec, etc...)
When I bought my LB, there were at least 9 or 10 LBs on the lot: 4 manuals and 5 or 6 Automatics, with every color except Meteorite represented. Still didn't give much bargaining power as they were obviously all brand new arrivals (mine had 11 miles on it when I bought it, four of which I had put on it during my test drive). We paid a little under MSRP, but not much.

yea, I'm starting to see them on the lots now too, whereas when I got mine just a few months ago... it was the only one within 20 miles, at least that I could find.
If I would have had the option, I probly would have gotten a 5 speed, and I probly would have been kickin myself everytime I drove to work or got a call.. etc etc etc.
