i know what you did.. i did the same thing.. when you disassembled your oem shock, make sure u use all the parts to swap over. there is a silver washer that it looks like you forgot to put on the black rubber stopper (i guess u call it). it goes on first, then the rubber bumper, then the strut mount.

Hmmm. Gotta check. Later.. all I remember from top to bottom was ...
nut.
Black piece. LOL.
Then car frame.
Then the big mushroom looking rubber.
Nut.
Flat black piece with the silver swivel on top.
Red top.
Flat gasket
spring
flat gasket
2 perches.
Sorry if that was difficult to understand. I have a feeling I missing something. By the do the OEM boot go on the coilovers too. Driving the car and hearing clunking noise is very paronid.. thanks for the help..

is the silver looking washer an oem part.. or from megan? or you talking about the bearing? also the shock shaft you talking about is at the end of the threads? thanks for your help

it is an oem part u use off your original shock absorber.. it slides on the shaft past the threads. it seats on the lip of the rod. god i knew i should have taken pictures

Yes, you have to re-use the bearing. None of the coilover kits provide it.

the only thing megan came with was the nut on top of the strut and a black top hat.. u use everything from the original strut. i did use my bump stops, but i cut them back a bit. so u can use it.. but even now i have yet to bottom out my shocks even during autox when i come across a bumpy section..

finally got pics.. heres how i installed it... pretend the wrench is the car frame....

when i compare stock and coilover threads after the top had is put on... theres a lot of thread showing on the megan side....

this is stock...

this is megan..

im thinking of putting a nut on the thread then the top hat so the hat will lay on the nut.. not sure if i explain correct.. but so far im running df210 in front and megan coilover in the rear... rear is really stiff...

another question.. how do you change the damper.. thanks for the help

ilikerice

computer at work wont show up those pics.. but to change the dampening, there should be 2 allen key wrenches that came in a little bag and 2 other keys have a black grip thingy and says

<--soft--hard-->

also the instruction booklette will show u more the cautions on adjusting the dampening.
you put the key in the top of the strut. move it around until you feel it fall into place.. then rotate where u want it. make sure you count how many times you move it. very little effort is needed to turn the key.. you should be able to easily turn it with very little effort. u will know when you have come to max soft/hard.

i got mines used... so never have the 2 allen key wrenches black grips and booklet... im still having trouble in the front.. cause of the gap... can i adjust the dampening on the rears too? and is it a small turn or like a 360 degree turn to adjust.. thanks the help ilikerice

i think your missing a silver spacer still.. its as tall as one of the silver nuts and inner diameter is the size of the nonthreaded shaft. about 1/8 thick in the walls

contact Megan to see if the sell the spacer or else stack some 12mm washers to take up the space but IMO i'd try see if Megan sells the spacer

Sorry to revive an old thread, but it seems I am having the same problem. I have installed the coilovers twice to make sure I have done everything right and referred to the pics ilikerce has posted, but mine pop out and leave the gap like the OP posted in the first picture. Also, no matter how much I tighten down the nuts everything moves when driving and is loose. Any insight? I feel like I am missing one of those sleeves. I bought the coilovers used and only one came with the sale so I did not use the sleeves at all. Could that be my problem?

I think you are missing the silver cylinder spacer that fits on the top of the shaft, then the rubber boot goes on that. Then the huge silver washers then the nut.

These are the OEM ones that need to be transferred over. The Coilovers do not come with these. I forgot these the first time also.

Thank you! That picture was just what I needed. It seems like I only have one of those spacers. Does anyone know where I could get another?

At the same time I'm thinking I should have them. I was running tokico blues before and they must have used the same spacers right?

yea, its an oem part. none of the aftermarket kits come with it.
