great for people who like the liftback, but need those two extra doors.

is that the same engine as used in the last gen Celica GT?

Strange... With the more torque engine and the bigger wheels, it should be able to do 60mph in 8.5sec, even if it was loaded down with larger gearing (which would be a good thing in a more torque engine). Considering the extra weight for the performance/luxury add-ons and the heavier engine, power to weight ratio would still be similar, which explains some of the slowness, but it's still too slow.

If fuel consumption is still good and the exhaust/emission system can to tweaked to return some better speeds, it'd be clear winner (or maybe it's not possible cause that 1.8L engine isn't as good as it should be or the 1.5L is just too good ???)

US has the Scion, which is going to have to take-on the soon to be redesigned Fit. So, I wouldn't be surprised if some good stuff is already in the piplines.

Since us Canadian don't get the Scion, hopefully, somebody will through us a bone, especially considering the popularity of 5dr liftback. It's a heavily contested segment here in Canada and only the mightiest can win.
