Hey guys!

Im new here so be gentle haha.

I am in the market for a first car and have found a nicely priced Toyota Yaris. It is quite cheap but thats due to minor hail damage (its an insurance write-off).

It is a 2008 3 Door, 1.5L Automatic with around 39000Kms on it (24000M for you imperial lads). I am curious if there are an maintenance issues or common problems with the Yaris?

From what I have read here it is a pretty good car, but I am still always dubious when making big purchases. I plan on giving it a test drive, is there anything I should look out for that is a sign of a current or future problem? Its going for AUD$10990 and is the YRX model.

I am already falling in love with this car (haven't yet seen it in 'person' haha) but would love some honest answers!

Kindest Regards,

Tyler

$11K for an insurance write-off is considered cheap! Sweet Jesus, what do these things typically go for in the Aussie market?

That aside, believe everything you've read. A low milage 2008 will have zero issues for a long, long time to come.

Haha!

Well a non-hail damaged YRX of the same year, with about 10 000 fewer kilometers is 18 000, a standard YR of the same year with the same K's is 14 000.

EDIT: Oh and if your right about the lack of issues, I'm a very happy man ;) .
