Hi everyone,

I need a new car soon! I went to a Toyota dealership that has 5 USED 2011 Yarises, all the same price $13,700.

The dealers say they were all used to shuttle around customers and was for company use only.

They range from 8,000 miles to 14,000 miles. ALL THE SAME PRICE.

After hours of talking back and forth, and complaining about previous usage/miles, rust on the roters and exhaust, I got them to come down to $13,300 for one with 9,000 miles. I walked away. They chased me out and offered $13,000. Should I run back?

Sounds reasonable, but then again, Chicago isn't exactly my market to comment on.

What are the features and trim level of the car in question?

Features are good. Cruise control, power everything, CD/MP3. However, I'm thinking they may have been bought at auction. For insurance reasons, they say I can't take it to a mechanic but "no reason to be so worried".

These games are driving me insane. Am I better off just buying new? Private sellers are harder to come by.

I'm talking to dealers about getting new price haggled. Saw a 2012 automatic with lots of features for 14,999. I'm trying for 2012 manual windows and locks at another dealership to get the price even lower.

Go new . With used you're possibly getting a car that was abused . I've seen how dealer employees drive . Years ago I transported new / used vehilces for dealers and many were driven hard :burnrubber: . I was always the last to arrive . Had a relative that transported cars and whipped by us on an interstate going 90+ m.p.h.. We always buy new vehicles delivered to the that dealer you're purchasing from and not trades ( swaps ) . Don't bite on its a old man that drives like a snail . That's not always the case , they too have lead foots .

For insurance reasons, they say I can't take it to a mechanic but "no reason to be so worried".

That comment would have me not walking, but running away from any dealership that would say that to me!

I would be patient and find a private sale on a Yaris, dealerships that pull shit like this don't deserve to be in business.

And I agree with Hershey, shuttle cars are not well taken care of by dealerships. Those Yaris most likely have been heavily abused.

Cheers! M2

Thank you. Yeah, the more I thought about it, the riskier it's sounding.

Just like buying fleet vehicles that were from car rental places like Budget, Hertz, etc. I can say that I drive my rentals hard.
