I would never want a sedan .. whether it is the older yaris or the rendered 2014 .. I consider them to be "old farts" cars which are a dime a dozen. I prefer my 2nd Gen hatchback as it is unique and you don't see a lot of them.

I would never want a sedan either, but mainly because of the lack of flexibility of use re shopping (Home Depot, Fry's etc.), sport, and trips. I see quite a few 2nd Gen Yari in my area, but there are quite a few high volume Toyota dealers in the Houston metro area so that would make sense.

Just got a hold of a 2012 manual SE left unsold from last July.

I guess manual cars must be on a steadily decreasing trend sales-wise in North America ?!? This is a fun well put-together car.

Scubaru if you happen to read this - did you have to remove permanently your SE exhaust tip once fitted with the Hidden Hitch receiver? Is it that close of a fit on an SE?

I am glad I got mine when I did because the body style is the best profile IMO. Was just buying for the gas mileage, but now with some mods and all the possibilities, it will look really good by the time I get my RPF1s on this next week and some other goodies. I want to keep it a bit on the sleepy side if you know what I mean. Mine is in my signature.

Nice design equals nice pic (mostly I guess).
Yarflana, I agree yours were nice AND different; they're now gone though.
It took me awhile to get accustomed to the 3rd gen; now is OK.
Once you like the brand, size, layout & mechanics of this car, well...there's no choice now but 3rd gen.
Both look "fairly basic" transportation in their stock configuration.
2nd gen design (stock) somewhat "cuddlier" if I may say.
An enthusiast look requires basic mods, then both look OK.
Different - yes no question.
I am moving from an iQ... this car now is more fun.

ok maybe ya'll can answer me this: i have the optiona fog lights on my car, 2012 Sport, the moldig to the fog lights seem deeper than those without the lights, did they change the overall molding or is it the entire front grill on the sport?

The front and rear bumpers are exclusive to the SE. Fogs are also standard equipment on the SE.

But over double that ($7.57) on a regular basis...ugh. My first thought while reading that post was 'I'll bet it is more in Britain'. According to PetrolPrices.com, the range today is...between 125.9 and 145.9 pence per liter for 'Unleaded'...which at the 11-20-13 exchange rate would be $7.68 to $8.89 USD per U.S. gallon...ugh.

I'm Ivan from Panama city, Panama and although my car has a Yaris badge (Yaris sedan) it is really a Vios in the rest of the world. However the mechanicals are identical so I hope I fit in here... :-)

This is the LeBra hood protector. I was worried about the bump near the emblem but after a few days exposed to the sun, the bra leveled out.

Originally, I wanted to get the Canadian bug deflector but apparently you can't get them through the dealerships in the US.

I should have paid the extra $$$ and got the 3m clear protective film installed when I bought the car last year. Unfortunately, I now have way too many rock chips on the hood.

Stock 2012. Bought it a month ago to replace a '97 Tercel that was beginning to show her years. The Yaris has a problem filling up, turns the pump off as soon as you pull the trigger, even on empty. So it's been in 4 times under warranty now to try and fix that. They've got a new fuel tank on backorder, so when that gets in hopefully the problem will finally be fixed. But I love this car. The mileage is great. We were getting around the EPA ratings when driving like a granny at 0C, 10% C2H6O, and enough emergency supplies in the back seat to last a week stranded. So I'll be curious to see how it does on my next highway trip.

You are welcome :thumbsup: I still have a 1/2 tank of gas from my last fill-up on April 11th! Mine replaced a 2003 Trailblazer with the L6 cylinder. It was pretty good on long highway trips, but the mpg's tanked around town here. 3 Bulbs in the taillights - There's the reverse bulb, running light bulb & an amber turn signal bulb on each side. So glad we got this car - just love it :headbang:

Note the black spots on the fender. I literally knocked the crap out of the deer. No word yet on what it will cost, or when I will get the car back. It happened yesterday on my way to work. I did not even have time to hit the brake, it was just there.

No, the air bags did not go off and I was able to drive the car to a body shop, after pulling the fender out from the wheel a bit. It still rubbed some, but not continuously. I don't remember feeling much of an impact. The nose of this car is rather soft! It appears that the bumper support is intact.

it is soft. it's supposed to absorb the energy from a collision. after that isnt enough to dissipate all the energy the crumple zones on the fenders are next to get crushed.

...and if its still not enough sometimes (at even greater speeds) the hatch or the trunk (sedan) will collapse despite being a head on collision--all for preserving the integrity of the cabin.

I'm hoping it will be ready Friday. The estimate was for about $3500. The left fender and the plastic liner, the bumper and all the plastic on the front of the car, and the air filter box were replace, and one headlight. I sure hope the headlight is aimed properly. I'll check that as soon as possible.

Before this white car I had a blue Pearl car and it is more sensitive than this, dust is noticealbe only 1 day after wash, in rain the drops are high visible. On the 2012-2014 Yaris, the white looks the best by far with those taillights, especially from the side angle. It isn't bad in red either with those taillights, though I would never buy a bright red car (it just isn't my color).

I would definitely have to take that cheesy chrome garnish piece on the back and have it painted to match the body though, regardless of the color (except perhaps a silver car). I'm so glad that the 2015 USA Yaris body-painted that trim piece this time around, instead of making it chrome. :clap:

Just thought I would post a pic of my new Canadian 2015 Yaris. ( Running out of good weather, sorry for lame backdrop ) I needed a car and wanted something reliable, economical,versatile and cool in its own quirky way.I also wanted to make sure I got one with the legendary Yaris drivetrain.
The only mods are rear bumper cover, cargo carpet, Toyota accessory side moldings ( could not get them the factory 4V8 Brown sugar metallic)Toyota accessory wheels PT904-52041 15 X 6.0. Gave it a slightly wider stance, I used the OE tires. I used the factory steel wheels for winter tires.
I can't believe how well it rides and a fun car to drive.Thanks for looking

I really like the "Brown Sugar Metallic" color, though it appears sort of grayish in your pics, due to the gloomy weather probably - it's a shame that it was never offered up in the USA. :frown:

Thanks all for your comments. It was a little scary ordering the car with out seeing one. I am happy with the color though, it does have a grey tone to it. I searched long & hard to get the right wheels. Still is kind of a gamble until you see them installed and yes I am happy with them as well. As far as the side trim goes, I guess on Toyota's side they don't know how popular the color will be.

Hey everyone,

New to these parts. After purchasing a 2016 Subaru Forester for my wife and our growing family, I have inherited her Yaris. A 2012 YRS with only 66000kms on the clock. 1.5l, 5 speed manual. Its dead stock!

I live in Sydney, Australia. Not sure what options are available here to modify it. Very tight budget at this stage.

Yes, the light on the left is the fog light, at right the reverse light.

New owner of a used white 2015 Yaris L manual. Not a fan of hubcaps, so running with the stock steelies (175/65?) for now. Interesting to see Toyota put in a touchscreen stereo, but no powered mirrors or keyless entry. I am coming from a 2012 iQ, so a little extra room and a manual is good.

I wanted an SE, but not much out there in CA.

Ordered my TRD rear sway bar, but potentially looking for some lowering springs down the road and nothing too aggressive. So, I can buy TRD springs and it will fit on a third gen? For example:

Thanks. After a tune up and oil change it runs great. Even the interior is in near mint condition. Some rental companies actually take care of their cars apparently :)

Bought this 2014 Yaris L in 2019 with just 80,000 km. Five speed with dealer-installed A/C. Love, love, LOVE this car (have always wanted a Yaris since 2005) and is my daily driver. Replaced the front bumper with a genuine Toyota bumper this spring after a run-in with a raccoon—the Yaris lost the battle. Otherwise, in amazing condition and looking great.

Just installed some Megan Lowerings springs, they don't drop it too much so its perfect for daily driving. These along with my trd rear sway bar make it a fun little go-kart, highly recommend them.
