Hey Yarisworld,

I purchased a 2009 Yaris 3DR in March. Been lurking here since a little before then while I was contemplating what car to buy. Planning on mostly practical mods as i bought this car as my daily driver, and since I live in the heart of Chicago, it's an automatic. Has about 35k miles on it now.

So far I've added Enkei Apache II's in 15x7 et38 with General Altimax HP in 185/60/15. I've also added a TRD air filter, TRD springs, and exhaust tip from trdsparks (debating on taking it off). Currently in the mail I've got a Vitz rear badge, Netz front badge, Weathertech window deflectors, and the foglight kit from MicroImage. Future plans include a new headunit, possibly the Sony MirrorLink compatible headunits coming out soon, and a roof rack.

My car history from most recent to oldest is: 1995 BMW 318ti, 1992 Mazda Miata, 1985 Toyota Supra, 1996 Honda Civic, 1987 Toyota Cressida, 1983 Volvo 244 Turbo, 1992 Toyota Cressida, 1996 Toyota Corolla, 1992 Volkswagen Fox.

Looking forward to contributing to the site. Crappy cell phone pictures for your scrutiny:

Thanks why. Planning on getting an MK3 Supra turbo next spring. Gonna be a long year with no RWD in my life.

did you drive all those cars into the ground? How could you bear to part with them?

I always wanted a VW Fox as a young man... Was raised in a Volvo 240 family as a kid too. Those were like driving a tank, and FUN!
BTW, those rims look oldschool cool. And 7 inches wide?!

Lovely work so far. I find my 2009 3-door to be addictive - I just gotta do one more thing, then I'll be done...every other week.

Those are really slick wheels!

why: Parted with them mostly due to bad luck and rust. the 92 Cressida blew its trans and was getting rusty, the 87 Cressida had some rust and serious electrical issues, the Miata's floorboard and quarter-panels rusted out, the Supra suffered from an electrical fire outside of a nightclub and was totaled (quite a scene, not in great shape to begin with), the Volvo had LOTS rust, the Civic got stolen, the 318ti was slightly rusty and the trans was popping out of first gear, a common problem with the Getrag trans in the mid 90's and was going to need to be replaced. The Fox and the Corolla were my mothers technically and she sold them.

I got all of these cars for next to nothing, and eventually calculated it just wouldn't be economical to restore them properly. Finally just decided enough is enough and wanted a reliable and very efficient daily driver. I will NEVER buy a project car from the rust-belt again that's for sure.

auxmike: The Fox was great. I always wanted to swap a GTI motor in it. The Volvo was also great. I put on an intercooler from a newer 740 turbo which really helped that tank out. It was surprisingly quick for its bulk. Definitely a sleeper. And yes, the rims are 7 inches wide. Haven't noticed a change in fuel economy yet.
