Again, thinking there needs to be more requirements for posting up in the BST section. Either a vouch from a current member in good standing, or a minimum of 10-15 posts.

Welcome to the forum! That's a real nice car you've got there, looks like you've put a lot of work into it!

I hear that Utah is nice this time of year, is it?

Stainless, that sounds heavy. won't the added weight make my yaris slower. I think I will go with the MI weight saving extension.

MI FTW

:bellyroll: Liked the sig move

at least it is car parts, there was some guy on here hacking phones or something random at us the other day, and it wasn't even posted in a logical place, lol.

maybe limiting the size of someone's first like 25 or so post to 4 or five lines and no uploading attachments until after that.

Thank you guys for keeping my post on top!

why?

Gonna have to start a troll thread. Haha

i think it has been started. op has to be a troll.

and without a real admin that cares i doubt you can limit who posts where.

Oh and Tooter, to make sure I understand you, don't physically cut the shifter, short shift kits make the shifts much shorter.

But cutting the shifter lowers the height of the stick, which I know a couple other members have done, and I plan on doing at some point soon. I have the NST engine bay SSK, and I love the shorter throw, but the stick is just too damn high!

Oh, I don't care about a short throw, just a short shifter.
Did the old Tacoma work truck years ago...

Fine for the street, but for racing you want the shift knob as close to the wheel as possible. So we shorten the throw and extend the shifter.

Just a different approach. But especially in the Yaris, the shifter is very far from the wheel; shortening it could actually cause some people to have to shift their body position to reach it -- *not recommended*.

I can understand that would be a definite advantage for racing...

...but since I'm no racer.

So would it make sense to shorten it, re-thread it, and get a REALLY long extension for track days, or will that just cause issues?

I thought about that. But I don't have a spare shifter to do it with, lol.

I'd still recommend getting a TWM short shifter rather than just hacking your stick down!

tooter
05-16-2012, 01:27 AM
...except hacking is cheaper and more fun.

I just hacked mine down, about 3 years ago. Took 3.25" off if I remember correctly. Love it. :)
