just bought fram freshbreeze cabin (a/c) filter. fram directions say install with air flow indicator arrow pointing down (towards the blower fan). yaris manual says when inserting the filter in the filter outlet, keep the arrow pointing up. confused, up or down. should charcoal side of filter be closer to blower fan or closer to air inlet. :iono:

The tray door of the air cabin filter compartment has an upward arrow, which ONLY pertains to how to place the tray door on the compartment latches to snap it on. It is NOT the direction on how to place the filter.

When you switch out the filter, you have to pay attention to what type of instruction is included on filter. Some filters have an arrow indicating AIR FLOW, others have an arrow indicating FILTER POSITION PLACEMENT.

For the Toyota Yaris, if you have a filter with an arrow that says AIR FLOW, it needs to point DOWN. Air flow is from top to bottom.

Otherwise, if the filter arrow does NOT indicate "Air Flow"direction, it is an instruction to position the filter with the arrow up, even though air flow is still top to bottom.
