My First Post

I currently own a 2005 VW GTi 1.8T, but because of a bad situation (job change) I can't afford my VW. So, I've been looking a getting a cheaper car that I can still have fun with. I considered a used car, but I owe just a little much to hand it over for something used, espically a small car like a Civic or CRX. Because of that, I went looking a new cars with a cheaper price tag. Before even visiting this site, I narrowed my choice down to the Toyota Yaris LB. I love how it looks and the smaller car has lighter weight than my GTi. Upon visiting this site, I'm now even more excited about possibly owning a Yaris because of the potential I've seen in body, engine and suspension performance. I'm already even tempting myself into trying to make a 1.8 Liter engine fit into it, but that would be getting too ahead of myself. Can you guys give me anymore heads up in the Yaris, especially in AutoX and Track Day stuff? I kind of think this little car will be like my old Nissan 200SX with it's 1.6 liter engine.

OH, and one more question, has anyone seen anything about converting the rear brakes from drums to disks? I'm not much of a fan on changing brake shoes and worrying about all those extra springs.

If you want to know a little more about me, ask or visit my MySpace page (yeah... I know, everyone has one). http://www.myspace.com/bannerracingrevolution

I love this car more then any other car I have owned… But be warned… the process of making this a Race/Track car is an on-going process… This Website is doing everything in its power to make that dream more of a reality… Power in numbers and all that jazz… But it is still pretty far off… For now the car is only a commuter car… but a fun little peppy one at that.

You seem to have a good deal of knowledge behind you… Not to mention ambition… And that, is always welcome.

But there have been some, who will remain nameless, who have found themselves bored of the Yaris, mind boggling as it may seem to me, it is still the truth.

Small engine as it may be, I still drive my car as if it were a corvette… I have received complements on it’s ability to race down the highway…swerving in and out of traffic and finding my way to the front… And where I have beaten soccer moms off the line, it is still no where near Track worthy!

But I did the same thing you have done… And I began to order parts before I even bought the car… So I know where your mind is at… and let me tell you… NOT HAVING A TACH SUCKS MONKEY BALLS! But a good deal of us have found ways to solve that issue too!

Good luck in your decision… Whatever you may choose, I hope that it works out for you!

Workin on it, Chino and I will probily get to it early spring, or when it starts to warm up, who knows when that will be in Ohio.

I am doing it more for cosmetics, I have open wheels and it looks bad seeing drums back there
