i see there are many shops/vendors on ebay selling aftermarket 2012 yaris foglights for the L and LE models. Has anyone bought a set of these yet? i was continplating on getting a set. i do realize when you buy ebay parts, you get ebay quality but you can't go wrong for under a $100 bucks.
here's a link to one set i seen on there .

The lamps are fine as long as they are DOT stamped.
On my 2012 L, I did not need the included harness, nor the relay or switch.
The car was prewired, I installed the lamps, and covers, then wired 2 wires of a 4 wire switch to jump the purple and green wires of the stalk connector at the bottom of the picture. The other 2 wires were tied to the shifter illumination wires.

interesting. and you think all these ebay kits are DOT approved?? lol i would think not. i could be wrong. so did you have to remove the front bumper or were you able to get around doing that?

I didn't say they were all DOT. I got lucky, bought mine from Amazon, (Vendor: Kramer America)
Pulled the pins on the upper bumper, pulled out both sides from the fender.
Bumper leaned forward, and I reached down to install the lights.
Found the fog plugs taped to a harness, right next to where the fogs are.
Did not remove anything from the bottom of the bumper.
The only reason I pulled the bumper was that I replaced the headlight bulbs with Philips CrystalVision Ultra 9003 Headlight bulbs, to match the same H11 I replaced in the fogs.
These fogs only come with Osram 3000K bulbs.

SAE not DOT.
Didnt see yellow, just use these:
http://www.amazon.com/Nokya-H11-Yellow-Light-Bulbs/dp/B000U3TTN6/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1349834010&sr=8-2&keywords=nokya
Bumper side, 15 minutes including new headlight bulbs.
Inside, 20 minutes, removed the lower steering wheel shroud, ran 2 wires from the switch I installed on the left dash cutouts. Tapped into the 2 wires as above.

Inserts were a perfect fit.
One of the fog lamp ears slides into slot in bumper, and they give you 1 screw for the other side. Add a screw to the ear below the slot for added safety.

Let us know how it goes.
I think you should have got the clear, and then you could change bulbs as needed.

Just installed mine yesterday and it works really well. Took me about 1 hour in total. It fits and works just like OEM.

Just for people like myself, the kind of inept people that burn water and break anything they touch, can you just tell us in more detail how you pulled out both sides from the fender?
Is there a trick to it, or do you simply pull it out as you said? I'm OK with the pins on the upper bumper, so I'm halfway there!
Cheers in advance!

Now pull the bumper at the fender liners, there are retaining nubs where it meets the fender, there are also retaining nubs under both head lights. A decent tug will remove it, and lean forward, for lights you do not need to remove lower bolts.
It will remind you of a hood (bonnet) being opened on a Mack truck!!

Hi guys, i like these ebay and amazon kits but has anyone try to fit an LED lights ?...i'm thinking about X Vision they have some of the nicest LED lights and maybe the best out there. They are not cheap...only one little light with aluminum housing can cost easy $120...and two are needed. I'm good with electrical so maybe i may just convince the wife to let me buy a pair ...sure you will have to wire/fuse and fit something not made for a Yaris but hey if they are good for Homeland Security and Nasa they should be good for a Yaris...:headbang:.X Vision has an incredible demo clip on youtube.
Thank you guys,
Dan

attempting my ebay fog light install today !!! kit came in yesterday, it appears decent quality. my only problem now is the wiring harness, is somewhat of confusing.
The part of the harness that should be fished through the cabin of the vehicle into the dash of the car, it just seems too short to do so...
anybody have any info to help me out here? :frown:

If you have the 3rd gen Yaris, the factory fog light harness should be built right in and is taped behind the bumper cover. You do not need to use the included wiring harness.
Here is what I did:
- Removed the bumper cover
- Installed the lights
- Plugged the lights to the factory fog light connectors
- Installed the bumper cover
Went inside my car:
- Removed the lower steering column cover (3 screws)
- Found the headlight control stalk connector
- Used a jumper wire and jump pin 3 and 4, turned on ignition and turned on headlight, the fog light turned on, together with the instrument panel fog light indicator
- All went well, installed the eBay fog light switch by tapping 2 of the wires from the switch onto pin 3 and 4. I have to cut the switch off the eBay wiring harness. My 3rd gen do not need to use the relay, relay controlled by the ECU.
That was it.

Well, we now have undisputed proof that anyone can fit fog lights to a Yaris!
I'll let an auto electrician friend do the final wiring inside, but otherwise, they're ready to go!
Thanks to everyone for their advice and instructions, too!

I bought a pair off of ebay and it was all knock off material. I guess it was ok for $74 including HIDs and shipping. But Im just not sure about the wiring. I guess I could just go for some trial and error but its a little too shady. I put the actual lights in last night and Im going to try the wiring right now. BTW, I have no electrical experience so I hope I get this right. The saying "You get what you pay for" is true.

Lerico's instructions sound pretty simple.
Lerico, which lights did you buy, and if you don't mind me asking, where did you buy them?

Let there be light! Fogs all wired up, plus we threw on some driving lights while we were at it ...
