Just traded my 08 Civic Si coupe in on 12 Yaris L 3-door manual. Got grey. Loved the Si, just wanted something a little more practical and better on gas. Loving it so far and the wife does as well. It has 70 miles on it.

Definitely going to miss the power and handling of the Si. But the cost of ownership over the next 3-5 years should easily beat the Si. (I hope). You guys have any tips?

You'll learn the joys of driving the relatively underpowered Yaris. It's also lots of fun to mod, and you'll appreciate any small performance gains.

An underpowered car can go around a curve just as fast as a more powerful car.

Three cheers for you buying a 5-speed manual (and I imagine Tooter would agree:biggrin:). Coming from a Civic Si, the 5-speed would seem a natural choice. I think you have many happy miles to look forward to. I saw the signs for your town on I-12 a couple of weeks ago on my way back from Florida.

On the 10th I bought my 5spd L I'm really enjoying it. I just broke 1000 miles and filled up with a tank of no ethanol and got 44mpg  I just need to install cruise and keyless entry now.

I picked up my 5M L on the 31st with 3 miles on it. The dealer installed OEM cruise, and it works great, but I'm really missing the remote locks. Still looking at the best option for that. Got 500 miles on it so far, and I'm getting 37.5 mpg in mostly highway driving. I hope it gets a little better as it breaks in.

as you drive more, you'll learn how to drive the car better, and your mpg will get a lot better - you won't have a problem hitting low 40's.

Getting 41.0 on the latest tank with about 900 miles. Cool!

My 2012 Yaris 3-door L MT is a nice little car. I've got about 4,200 miles on it and get about 41-42 mpg per tank if not driving on the freeway a lot (70+mph). On tanks that include about 275 miles of 70-75mph freeway driving, I'm getting closer to 37-39mpg.

Driver's side window has rattled since day 1 and doesn't roll up all the way (hand crank windows). Will have the dealer take care of this when I bring it in for my first oil change soon. Other than that, very fun little car.
