I would buy used if you could, you'd be more likely to find the combination of trim you want. The shark antenna is like, 20 bucks on ebay and takes all of 20 seconds install.

Dont spend $14K for used.
I bought a BRAND NEW 2012 L 5 speed, for $15840, drive off...out the door..tax license included!!!
Last July.
My base L came with power door locks.
Offer them exactly that, they WILL take it.

Disregard the dealer installing the power windows and locks, it wont happen.
They will blow smoke up your ass just to sell you a used car.
As I mentioned above, Make the deal on a new car. It will cost you the same as that used one.
Im serious on the $15840 out the door for a new L. Ill send you a copy of the contract.
Then wait a little while you save up, buy the kits I showed you, and find a shop that installs accessories/stereos etc to install them for a couple of hundred $. (Total $400)
Buying a new Toyota gets you no hassle warranty, 2 years of free maintenance, free towing under warranty. The oil changes are worth $200 in itself.
It makes NO financial sense to buy a used 2012 for 14K + tax, and all the BS paperwork fees.

Are you looking at the white 4 door, at SF Toyota for 14K with 6K miles?
The Carfax shows it as a corporate fleet, sold at auction.
I wouldnt touch it!!

I agree. One of the few used cars I've owned (bought as an extra car -- very hard to find and always wanted one) had been a corporate fleet car. Don't do it!

Wow... that's a great price. I bought my 2012 base model L 2 door 5 speed for $16,600 out the door in April, although it came with air conditioning which might account for some of the difference.
At the time, there were only 3 of them in California so I just threw the money at them, drove it away, and counted myself lucky to get one at all.

What dealer?
I have AC too. Even a factory tach, which surprised me!!
I spent 3 months on and off trying to find a 5MT, the factory would trickle them in. In the end, I called Toyota Corporate, here in LA, and asked what dealers had 3dr L with 5MT, they thought it was too much to ask, so I demanded a stock inventory of every dealer in SoCal, or I would buy my 3rd Nissan product in 2 years!!!
They were shocked, but complied.
It was easier to negotiate on a 5MT than an AT, I bought this one over the phone. Many dealers insulted me over emails, and phone.
I stopped negotiating in person 12 years ago.
Lastly, I took a picture of the car in front of the South Bay Toyota sign, and emailed all their respective general managers cc'ing the conversation I had with their salespersons.

"I really need a car" to a used car salesperson, is like blood to a shark..
If you really needed a car, then you would pick up a used 2008 for a couple $Ks.
Anyway, my advice has been voiced, do what you can live with.

See post #17 on YOUR OTHER THREAD ON THE SAME SUBJECT:bonk::bonk::bonk:
(I was trying to be helpful and informative on the other thread and your post on this thread mentioned a specific about what isn't affordable for you----info not on the other thread---which made much of my post on the other thread meaningless)

^^^^^This. Let the insults fly! All it takes is one yes. I've done this on previous cars. I didn't on my Yaris because I was on a trip and some of the roads in Newfoundland were the death knell for the steering rack on my Suzuki (and I had depreciated its value to zero in the Blue Book)...and at the time there was a paucity of 5 speed Yari in the Northeast (and probably in other areas as well). Had I been home, I would have taken (close to ) the stance you did.
The tactics I used when I bought my GTI were similarly hardcore. I posted the process here and someone replied that I was being unethical :rolleyes::rolleyes:. It is a business transaction. The dealer isn't forced to take any deal.

If a dealer takes your offer, no matter how ridiculous it sounds, a profit is made.
There is nothing unethical trying to negotiate the lowest deal.
The price on the sticker means Manufacturers SUGGESTED Retail Price.

EXACTLY, as consumers can get a ballpark figure -- but not the true numbers -- re what the 'holdbacks' are from the manufacturer.
