So I am looking for yaris hatchback... and they are only 2 choices (in san francisco at lease)
2011 yaris (2doors) hatchack with 23,816 miles on it for 14,000 before tax and license
or 2010 yaris (4door) hatchback with 33,242 on it for 14,000 before tax and license both have only 1 owner and are certified and both are LE I believe since they come with power windows and lock....
Please pleas please x_x I need some suggestions and comment about it and if I am paying too much for it ? I plan to buy the car the end of this month ....
Thanks so much

being that the asking price is the same for both cars, the one with the lower miles is a no brainer. however, $14k seems a bit high to me. but then again, i don't live in frisco so i don't rly know if that's a good price or not?

does the 4 door are usually more expensive that 2 doors? (I know is a silly question but is my first car and I am assuming is more expensive because have more doors? lol )

I do not think I can help you, but I paid 12 000 (2 000 insurance) for a 2008 Yaris (4 doors) Hatchback with 60 000miles. It came with automatic windows and a distance starter, etc.. There was only one person who was driving and It was a rent. I think both are good offers, it remains only to take the one you prefer the most.

no lol. actually from what i've seen, it's quite the opposite. four doors in my area seems to have a lower asking price than the hatch.

If you plan on having multiple people in your car or kids in the foreseeable future, I'd say go with the four door. I drive a two door, and its great for me and three other friends. Then again, I'm 21 and shouldn't have to worry about getting a car seat in and out. I also agree with some of the other's that the price is a little high. Expect between 800-1000 for license, fees, and tax. I'd try to get the either car out the door for 14k at the most.

14K sounds a little pricey for a used Yaris. I bought my 2008 new for 14.3 (power locks/windows/cold weather package.) Try to talk them down a little bit.

I think prices in general are usually higher in SF, so it might not be a bad price.
If you need the extra doors, then definitely get them but if you've got a choice than the two-door seems like the better deal. Be aware that the car is the same length, it's just that on the four-door hatch the front doors are shortened to add two more to the back. There is no added length.
Both will most likely be solid cars, Toyota scored a hit with this one and while it might not be overly popular in the States, I see the Yaris all over the globe in my travels!
Cheers! M2

Thanks everyone for the fast reply ... I think I will just get the 2 doors one cos has lower miles....and according to the dealer the price is set ... >.< now just wait for my paycheck so I can get it xD
The only thing I will do to that car is just the antenna I guess any suggestion for shark antenna for 2011 yaris? I google and they are only 2009 ones... does anyone install one before ? is hard?
Thanks so much in advance again =3

Oh COMON!!! The dealer is full of shit, when he says the price is set!!
Offer $12,800.00, if he gives you crap, turn around and let him watch you walk.
There's nothing more humiliating to a used car sales guy than watching a sale walk away.
There are HUNDREDS of others out there.
I told you in the other post, you go in NEEDING a car, they smell blood!!
If you need the dealer to finance, then negotiate as cash, then when all is set, tell him youre going to the bank to get financed.
The price is now locked, and they jump through hoops to finance you.
Better yet:
Buy this one: http://www.microimageonline.com/forums/showthread.php/5728-FS-2010-YARIS-S-PACKAGE-5-SPEED-JOLT-YELLOW-COLOR-RARE
He just lowered the price to mid 12Ks OBO
Offer him 12K even, take the Surfliner train to LA, and drive back to SF in your new yellow Yaris!!
A fellow member, and we know he has taken care of this bad boy.

I moved to Texas in August of 2008, but I'm a Bay Area native and lived over 85% of my life there before moving (and have spent 6 months there since moving to Texas). Prices for both of the cars you listed are way too high. Look at the Kelley Blue Book website (kbb.com). Kelley Blue Book divides the price into 'Private Party' and 'Trade-In' categories. Private Party Excellent Condition is the highest price they list and the highest price is known in the car business as 'Retail Book'. If a dealer insists on a price above retail book in order to make a deal, walk away. The Kelley Blue Book website allows you to plug in a zip code to make the price zip code specific. I used the only San Francisco zip code I could think of off the top of my head (94123), and used the specific mileage you quoted for each car. I assumed an automatic transmission for each car. The highest price (private party, excellent condition) for the 2011 2 door hatchback for 94123 zip code is $11,404 and the highest price for the 2010 4 door hatchback for 94123 zip code is $11,410 dollars.
I would buy a new Yaris. Yarisworld member Absolutely Red 12 paid $15,840 out the door (final cost) in the Los Angeles area for his 2012 Base L 5 speed (he posted this on another thread). The 2012 and 2013 base models have a few of the previously optional features as standard equipment. I have driven my 5 speed manual Yaris all over San Francisco with no problem. The 2013 base model is, I believe, $255 more than the 2012.....and according to the website I just looked at the sales tax is currently 1/4% higher in L.A. (1/4 % on $15,000 is only $37.50). You will pay at least $15,351 including Tax and License for either of the 2010 or the 2011 you quoted. If you take Absolutely Red 12's final $15,840, add $255 for the 2013 price increase and add the extra Tax and License (for that extra $255) of $24.61 and then subtract $37.50 for the 1/4% tax difference between S.F and L.A. (per the website I found) that brings the total for a 2013 L 5speed 2 door hatch to $16,082.11 ----- only 731.11 more than the cars you are looking at and you get a brand new 2013 with likely under 100 miles on it. You can add the power window feature for a low price by following instructions on Yarisworld.. A dealer in California sold Absolutely Red 12 his car for that price, so some dealer will sell you a base 2013 for an out the door price of 16,082.11 (round it to 16,080 to make it easier). If a nearby dealer won't do it, look at inventory (on the internet) in Stockton, Fairfield, Merced, Sacramento, etc.....get a commitment for that amount...then add in the cost for a friend to drive with you to that location....add that on to the $16,080...and go back to the local dealer and tell them what you found and you'll add the cost of going out to that dealer and add that to your offer to them instead. I can't imagine that the closer dealer would say no. If they do, just go to the other dealer who agreed to the $16,080.
You didn't mention financing, so I didn't assume any. If you have to finance, pretend you are paying cash until you get an out the door price...then use your own financing (or theirs IF it is cheaper). DO NOT reveal you are not paying cash until after you get an out the door price. Tell them you changed your mind (it is none of their business why).
As you look, if you are finding 2012 inventory and not any 2013, there is no reason to pay any more than $15,802.50 out the door (the $15,840 Absolutely Red 12 paid minus the approximate tax difference of $37.50)....and that would be only approximately 451.50 more than the used cars you quoted in your post.
Good Luck!

Here are two 2012 3 door L models for $15780 at Marin Toyota.
A Red and a White one.
You can walk away paying $16K even out the door, since they are autos, who would want a 5 speed in SF!!

Tooo Funny !!!! I was typing my post on and off and hadn't looked at the thread since MadMax's post....didn't see A.R 12's post until I posted mine.....I was soft pedaling it because I felt if I was too hardcore you might think what I was writing would be impossible. Don't give up---THEY ARE RIPPING YOU OFF ( SEE THE NUMBERS ON MY PREVIOUS POST) AND PAY ATTENTION TO ABSOLUTELY RED 12 AS WELL..... The only reason to allow yourself to get ripped off is if you have no down payment and crappy credit. If you have no credit (but pay stubs -- as you do) DON'T FALL INTO THIS TRAP!

My Kelley Blue Book research from post #12 shows you are getting ripped off and M2's real world example from Craigslist shows, TO AN EVEN GREATER DEGREE, that you would be getting ripped off with either deal from your original post. DON'T DO EITHER OF THOSE DEALS unless you find they are the only people who will loan you the money and your current car is unreliable (and you absolutely need a car).
M2 came up with a much better alternative....look into the car he found (unless there is no way do it financially).
