Well if all goes well, I'll have my 2010 Yaris sedan (manual 5 speed) by tomorrow night. I am buying it from the dealership in Naperville, IL. It has 69k miles and is certified pre-owned, with only 1 previous owner. If all goes well tomorrow, I should get it with around the 1.9% rate over 60 months.

Anyways, just looking for advice and any tips on keeping the car in great condition and any advice for any low end modifications that anyone of you may deem worth while. This will be my first new(ish) car. I saw another post on here about another person who recently got one and was looking for advice too. I didn't want to step on any feet though, so I figured I would create my own post.

Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum. Do alot of reading. There are several small things that can be done at little or no cost. In the AF?.....then not sure about your living situation. Therefore I can't say about your storage ability. Weight reduction is a good start, bearing in mind that if you don't lower the car it will rise. Being single I made the decision to un-ass the rear seat (60/40) and not carry a spare for around town trips. I could go on but I'll say to check my garage if your of a mind to and check out Micro Image for goodies.

As part of your regular maintenance routine check the underside of the hood for pink stains where the belts are.

This would indicate a leaking water pump.

They have been known to fail and its best to catch these things early.

Yup!! And since I'm not a dealer I won't fill in the "price" section on the title, so you won't have to pay $700 in taxes.

And I PM'd him. Hopefully he reads his email or gets on here before he goes to the dealer. I'd LOVE to sell him my Yaris.

It's a good offer, but I really prefer the sedan model :( it's actually surprisingly not a horrible price for it. Due to the higher milage, it's actually just below 10k. That is a good deal you have though and it's a shame, because you live like 10 minutes from me if not less.

And I appreciate all the comments! I'll be getting back on here in a little bit. I have been at work since 7am yesterday and will get off in a few hours so I'll be able to reply more then.

Damn! You'd get better gas mileage with the three door, and there's PLENTY of room inside. If you want a sedan, buy a Corolla.

Eh it's all personal preference I suppose! So anyways, ended up getting the same model but with only just shy of 30k miles from the dealership in Elmhurst. It's red and I must say, it looks really great. I'm looking forward to driving it more and slowly getting to know it. It's the first stick-shift I have driven in nearly 2 years. It's a good thing driving manual trans is like riding a bike, you never forget!

Not in the AF, I am in civil air patrol, which is the auxiliary of the AF. I also did AFROTC for a few years so that's sorta how I came up with my sn :)
Unfortunately, currently I have no way of storing it indoors (sadly). One day in a few years that will change with any luck.
