Hi everyone
I was curious what everyone got for a finance rate? I know when I bought my truck I got 4.9% I am sure the rates went up since then.
Also.... can you lease a Yaris?? Does anyone know

This info is probably not much help as I am in Canada, but ........... I leased from Toyota Canada @5.5% (purchase was 3.5% at the time). This was a "Red Tag" special on remaining '06's.

Rates are really shitty right now. I got mine around 6.5%, which was typically for that day. When we bought the Prius about a year ago, it was 4.5% or so.

Bad timing right???? In Canada the rates had been terrific until recently. Of course we could have bought Hyundai or the Big 3 and got 0%, and just about every truck or SUV in Canada (even the Honda Ridgeline "Truck of the Year") has a great finance rate. Still, I'm glad I bought the Yaris.

Well, the payment on the Yaris is still about half what the payment for the Prius is, so I don't have any big complaint. If I was going to pay high interest rates, the Yaris was the one to do it on. ;)

Wow... thanks for all the replies.
I just got done calling all the dealerships within a driving distance of me. I am having a terrible time getting the Yaris LB Stick fully loaded :frown: The one dealership had two LB's in auto with the convience package only.... I am sticking to my guns and getting the car I want period......
The interest rate they all told me over the phone was 7.0%
Also every dealership I called is selling the car for sticker and no less  Guy on phone told me the demand is way too high on this car and no reason to sell under sticker.
Since I am being nosy asking so many questions anyone care to give me an idea of what your payments are. I am estimating with 2 grand down around $230 a month....
Thanks for the input in advance
PS. Sorry to derail thread onto other questions.....

Picked up pretty nearly loaded 5-speed Liftback for $500 under MSRP through COSTCO auto-purchase program.
Paid cash, so never talked interest rates.
We took advantage of Toyota's 2.9% on our 4Runner in Feb. Even when giving up the $1,000 discount it was an effective rate of about 4.5%. Since we are getting that, or more, on CD's right now, it was worth hanging on to our cash and dispensing it on a monthly basis.
One benefit of being OLD, I guess. :drinking:

Again Canadian info ........................... my Yaris 3-door RS-B 5-speed with the lowering springs intalled ($514 (Can.).......... 5 year lease (nothing down, in fact the initial payment was $100 off) $317/month including 15% GST and PST. I think the lease end payout option is $6000, but I'm not sure on that.
Can't help with finance rates, I paid cash.
I was able to get $249 off, which means I paid $557 US above invoice. That is a good deal on a just released vehicle.
Getting anything off of MSRP is an achievement.

Canada here...I got 5.5% with 3 months differed payment no interest, no money down. 6 year payment to own (no lease) = 348$/month.

Hey Nick that's pretty good. I might have gone for that if it was offered. Obviously "Why?" has the right idea paying cash. That just wasn't an option for me.

How did you do it Macel? Give me the secret because so far over the phone 3 dealerships said no way, sticker price only. I am wondering if I go in person they will change there mind. What about if you ask them for a LB fully loaded Stick? See what they say...
*Edited to add one of the dealerships is where I bought my truck* So if they can't help me I am S.O.L

From the sounds of previous posts on several threads, fully loaded LB 5-speeds are in pretty short supply south of the border (Canadian, not U.S. border I mean). If that is the case getting any deal is unlikely, unless you have a long term relationship with the dealer. I bought 4 cars in a row from the same Acura Dealer, and got tremendous deals on the last 2. When I thought about switching to a Honda Fit, the Honda sales person was like full list, no interest rate incentives, no freebies to sweeten the deal ....... "We'll just sell it to the next guy!"

05-09-2006, 10:27 AM
Oh I should add, the Toyota dealer did try extra hard to get me a better deal because he felt he was "stealing" a customer from Honda. Nothing big just some minor incentives on my lease.

Balise Toyota up in Springfield MA was actually listing an automatic sedan at 700 under MSRP online. I dont know why.
Generally, you get better deals online than you do if you call them up or pay a visit to the sharks nest.
What I did was email all of the local dealerships' internet sales depts. and said, first one to give me the same deal as the one offered by Balise gets my business. I got an email from Middletown Toyota in about 2 days with the sale price on a standard transmission sedan, convenience and all weather packages at 12,995 (MSRP 13473 or something like that). Couple hundred dollars off, but close enough.
These salespeople tend to 'forget' their offers, so if you get one like that, make sure to store it in your records and bring it in with you when you go to talk to them.
That's not even half the battle for me though as I have to get a fair price on a trade-in, and that's where the dealerships love to screw people the most.
lol, no kidding.
I didn't even bother arguing price on a trade in they were so far off.

Well, the dealer that offered $12,995 for the $13,475 MSRP sedan w/ convenience package and all weather package wanted to pay $2,500 for my 2001 Hyundai Tiburon w/ 60,000 miles in 'fair' condition, which has a bluebook trade in value of about $4,300. I immediately told them that I was looking for twice that amount. They immediately offered $3,500 but wouldn't go above that, so I said 'goodbye'.
I went over to another dealer, told them them that one dealer offered me $4,200 for a trade in, but I couldn't accept that... and when pricing the Yaris came up, I told them another dealer offered me $500 under MSRP, and asked if they could match that... This dealer offered me $4,500 for the Tiburon and matched the $12,995 cost for the new yaris sedan. They then went on to offer me a Yaris Sedan with the power package, all weather package and floor mats for $700 under MSRP. I opted not to go for that. To be honest, I prefer the manual rollup windows - the yaris ones are easy to use, and its one less expensive thing that can break. Everything else, besides the ABS, is just fluff... The price tag with the power package and floor mats is $700 higher... $700 for ABS... Nahhh.. (I know Im being a bit hypocritical here, since I argued so vehemently for ABS in other threads...)
Anyhoo, I got an email from the dealer who tried to give me $2,500 for the tiburon earlier today, they matched the $4,200 offer that another dealer made... I just responded to them, saying "sorry, this dealer just offered me $4,500 for my tiburon".. So hopefully I can get them to start bidding against each other now.
This is kinda fun...

Oh yes... I did the same thing with my truck. I made them bid against each other  It actually worked in my favor and I am afraid that is what I am going to have to do this time around also. I don't have a trade in so that is one less headache.

One thing I noticed is that their internet sales managers are often NOT salespeople. It's much easier to talk them down/get them on your side than it is to do so with a floor salesperson. Im guessing that they are not payed by commission. Usually, when you meet them at the dealer, they hand you right over to a floor salesperson.

Holy S*hit 17.5% :eyebulge:
When I got my first new car I didn't have much credit or a co-signer and I got a 9.5% loan all on my own. Try and get that finance rate lower at all costs. I wouldn't have bought the car for that rate. NO WAY  Couldn't you find someone to co-sign for you?

I feel so ripped off right now, toyota said the best they could do was 9.9% and that was with an amazing credit co-signer......I knew it was a rip off but I didn't have a choice...I don't get it
I can refinance in a couple months with that graduate program right?...What rate does that get me?

08-12-2006, 10:21 AM
If your co signer had amazing credit then you should have went directly to the bank or credit union for the loan...if you don't have any credit you'll have to wait longer than a couple months to refinance.

Hey Guys, new to this forum. I'm buying a 2007 Yaris Le 5-door hatch back with 'package B' this week. Tell me if this is a good deal to go with; 5000 down, 4.7% lease, for 60 months at 210 per month with a buyout for 6000. Good deal???

Bought back in Apr, 6.9% - lease.
Couldnt find a 5D stick 2006 with the features I wanted, so had to go new 2007. But this meant I couldnt take advantage of the special lease int rate of like 5.5% (Red Tag Days deal). Oh well... I made my choice.
And yea, leasing rates are ALWAYS higher than finance rates (special offers creating the exception).
Jem
edit: oh yea, didnt say, but its a 5 year (60 month) lease
6.35% / 48mon. - (Loan) thru Toyota.

Keep in mind that the buyback rate is very important too, although you might pay less in interest you might pay more to make up for the lower lease end value.

Keep in mind that the buyback rate is very important too, although you might pay less in interest you might pay more to make up for the lower lease end value.
In the end, you ALWAYS pay more for a lease!
You tend to actually have a higher leaseing int rate, but your monthly payments are smaller. If you are gonna buyout at the end, its alwasy gonna cost you what it does... about 6,000$ for my Yaris.
You ALWAYS pay a premium for leasing... you realize in the end, if you buyout, leasing will ALWAYS cost you more, but you take the sacrifice for the lower monthly payment for the term of your lease.
Pretty much, if you lease, you're either a) not wanting to keep the vehicle after the lease expires, or b) if you plan to buy it out, you decide that you'd rather enjoy a smaller monthly payment for the trade off that you still hafta shell out money at the end of it to own it.... that's the lease premium one pays for the luxury of lower payments each month.
Jem
P.S. I think the premium I paid for my Yaris was that in the end, I paid about 1,200$ more (I caluculatd it, but cant remember exactly off hand). But to pay that extra 1,200$ for my car was worth it for the much more attracitve monthly payment I have to make for 5 years.
In 5 years time, I expect to be in a far better situation in life, so saving a portion of that 1,200$ each month i consider to be worth it. Buying out the 6,000$ balance at the end i figure I can handle in 5 years time.
