My car got stolen from the gated parking lot. :(

Took all the right steps:
1. Made a police report.
2. Made an insurance claim.
3. Got drunk.

I'm sure it was a planned out operation. You couldn't possibly see the car from the street cuz of the huge truck blocking the sight of it.

I guess it flatters you a bit, don't it?
But man, does it suck!

man that sucks, the one thing i think ALL manufactures should do is chipped keys, so even if they get in, no way in hell can they drive off with it unless that have the key, but i guess thats what we get for $15k cars.

gonna get another yaris?

I still get alot of people that think my yaris is a hyrid. Which maybe is why the thieves stole your yaris. Doesn't seem the yaris would be in that big a demand yet with thieves. I bought a anti theft system for my yaris cause I like to visit SoCal where my brother lives. Did you have a anti theft system installed.

why would anyone steal a yaris?? lol nothing valuable in it in my opinion

buy sorry for the loss, i know how you feel. i bought my acura integra GS-R 9 months before i got my license. learned how to drive stick on it, drove it about 7k miles with my permit. 2 weeks to the day after i got my license, stolen from in froint of my house. total losses about 12k, no theft insurance(wanted over3k a year!)

Sorry about that. Really sucks. Wonder how they got into a gated community? Does the folks at the gate have a record of who came/went during the time your car was stolen?

Good luck.

Even chipped vehicles managed to get stolen, Mk2 Ford Explorers are chipped and once in a while somebody would write on the forum that thier truck got stolen, and sometimes from gated communities too. A winch and a flatbed will remove just about any vehicle, chipped or not, but it sure is a great deterant against small-time crooks

I'm sorry to hear about that.

One of the reasons I bought a Yaris is because I thought no one would ever risk their necks for a $14K car. I guess I was wrong.

not that hard to bypass chipped keys, GM chipped keys are super easy, Ford a bit harder, but you can bypass the halo with out a lot of effort

YEA, but then anybody who is stealing a Yaris is probably some broke ass guy walking around with some booze behind a truck. He suddenly stops and says..damn..nobody can see me, I am walking and there is a car here waiting to be driven.
A chipped key would be really great for those guys...and I'd say most people with the necessaries to bypass even the easiest chipped keys would probably aim a little higher up the ladder than a Yaris most of the time.

we do not have chips in our keys, just normal regular keys no theft prevention

I'm pretty sure the Australian Yaris has chipped keys ~ That's what my dealer told me (dealer is a friend of ours) ~ I doubt he'd lie.....
