It seems to me there is no way of turing off the hatch light w/ the hatch open.

Am I right?

I have a Fit too and some guys over there have figured that there is an Acura light assembly w/ a switch on it that fits directly in the place of the Fit’s.

Any one have a similar suggestion here for the Yaris? If not, I am going to order this Acura light, (it’s $12) for my Fit, but I’ll see if it might be compatible w/ the Yaris

Thanks

I don't think that any other one will fit directly into that spot, but it would be very simple to add a panel mounted on/off switch to allow you to turn it off when leaving the hatch open for extended periods.

Something like this?

Hasn't got a switch, but it looks quite similar to what sits in my Yaris' luggage compartment.
Quite interesting though because it is a lot cheaper than that for the Yaris, I have been thinking about fitting a light into the hole in the hatch that is closed with a black plastic clip...
The original one fits in there
