I am in the search to build a rice rocket. My options are at this point:
2007 Toyota Yaris 1.5l 106hp fwd auto.
could swap in a SR20DET
THese cars are good drift builds. nice Stance and body to them great weight and base for a build. Low kms 90,000kms
or

1990 nissan 300zx NON TURBO!
Perfect rear end for build, high KMS! 300,000KM but passed safety last week put alot of money into it "$3000"
standard rwd small smot of rust on rear bumper
My plan for this is to drive it through the winter (winters here are pittiful little snow thanks to chinooks) and then drop a VG30DETT into the car next summer. the non turbo rear ends are the prefered ratio for these builds and being its condition i wouldnt mind driving it through the winter.

Both engine swaps are around $2000 for the engines and tranny and ecu.

I can and have done insane amounts of body work
i understand engine swaps have done two v8 swaps but theyre completely differant
Money isnt an issue
I understand turbos, chargers, NA's Etc.

HELP hahah if i sound like a noob let me know ill take any advice ideas and ideas!

If pictures would help let me know i have plenty.

Go for the Yaris with a SR20DET swap. I only choose this option because I'd love to see how you'd attempt to execute that.

From what ive seen is if i choose to do that swap id rather build my current engine but if i do the main issue is turbo place ment cause it interferes with the steering.

I could be wrong but it seems like there's only been 2 or 3 people even do an engine swap in the Yaris. There was some guy that fit a V6 in there though.

Ive seen about three or four differant swaps done the SR20DET, sr20de, and 4a gze. id like to see what else could be done.

if you want performance and plan on making the yaris RWD with that nissan engine, I'd pick the yaris because it's a newer chassis.

Even though my track cars are both from the 1980's

There is alot of contradicting statements in this thread. Also, if you like nissan motors so much, and you want a rice rocket that is rwd, have you thought about the Versa? The amount of work putting into a convertion is probably more than what Garm's car is listed for.
