Eco button in old yaris?

I bought an old Toyota Yaris, manual transmission (1999-2003) and do not understand what is here. :confused: This button lights up when car lights is turned on. When driving nothing changes.

Is it a on/off button for a start/stop system?

what model, what engine, where did the car originate from? It isn't an option we ever saw in the USA.

So, if I understand correctly this is a Toyota Vitz. Which has
STOP & GO SYSTEM. Stop-start system automatically shuts down and restarts the internal combustion engine to reduce the amount of time the engine spends idling, thereby reducing fuel consumption and emissions. And
previous owner turned it off.

Your car turning off the engine when you stop?
This option I think toyota is starts to use it after 2009 to yaris...
