Hi all,

I'm off to look at the above spec car at the weekend. It's a step down in size for me, and I'm a high mileage drive so I'm keen to check out some thing and benefit from your experience.

I'm in the UK, just in case that helps.

Firstly, I've found a company that can fit cruise control for £425. Is there an alternative?

Centre arm rest -is this possible? I find this and cruise control a massive boon on long journeys.

Otherwise, is there anything I should look out for? Is the 1.4 diesel engine camchain or cambelt? Home servicing OK?

Chain drive. Theres a DIY cruise control on this site which MIGHT fit your car. To do my 09 was like $10.

We can help you do your maintenance!

The D4D (diesel) Yaris does not have cruise control functionality built into the ECM, so you would need an aftermarket cruise control solution.

The 1ND-TV diesel engine does indeed use a timing chain, rather than timing belt. From my discussions with owners of D4D Yaris it seems to be a great and reliable choice. I really wish we had access to that engine over here.

Hello Fran9R,

Have a look at the following before you buy your new car:

1.) Some Yaris editions (e.g. Style Plus) include cruise control in their configuration so you might have a look for those instead of a cheaper edition.

2.) Armster has an arm rest solution for our cars (Link (http://www.directcarparts.co.uk/product/1742/v00308/-armster-2-black-car-armrest-for-toyota-yaris-2011-v00308.html))

Thanks,
Ilias
