I was reading an article on www.autoweek.com about the increase in four-cylinder car sales, and the last couple of paragraphs said this:

"We have not seen a significant vehicle class jump from eight down to six or six to four [cylinders]," McCormick said.

But others have. Rosario Criscuolo, owner of Spartan Toyota in Lansing, Mich., says those kinds of jumps are taking place every day at his dealership.

"Day by day we're seeing more people going to four cylinders," said Criscuolo. "There's a 60-day wait for the new Yaris small car. I never thought the Yaris would be taking off like this. I thought it would be incremental business, not a core car."

Wow -- a two-month wait!

I've been waiting seven weeks for my factory order. No word on progress yet. My guess is the wait will be about 16 weeks?

why?

Whoever said they don't see jumps was lying. I worked at a Toyota dealership for a few months right at the height of gas prices after hurricane katrina. The majority of people that came in had v8's and were trying to get into 4 cylinder cars.

Well, it might differ from dealer to dealer.
