First time poster. I'm just after agreeing to buy a 2007 yaris with only 35k on the clock, for 5700 Euro. Keep in mind that cars are a lot more expensive in Ireland. Car is in showroom condition. Owned by a nun that barely drove it. Think I've got a great deal!

SOunds like it. Here in the States cars on C list are usually trashed anymore.
Good luck with it!

Wow! What a find! When I saw the thread title, my first thought was....Does it really have 35k on the odometer? Then I read your post. Given the occupation of the previous owner....likely a safe bet that that is the true odometer reading .

And I've had a mechanic friend of mine look at it in great detail. He said he couldn't find anything wrong with it and there's a full service history, confirming the accuracy of the mileage. It's in showroom condition. And just to top it off, it has four new tyres! I'll post photos when I pick it up.

 I think you'll thoroughly enjoy driving it around your beautiful country.

Very nice find. I thought I was doing well with only 56k on my '07. Only 35k is fantastic.

So far so good with the car anyway. Will post some photos at the weekend. Feels like driving a new car and I'm treating it as if it's a new car....like not letting my girlfriend start filling the pockets with junk!

Are you actually buying off the nun?or is that the story the seller is giving you?Take it to a certified mechanic for an inspection before you buy it.as sometimes deals that sound too good to be true generally are.

Yeah I had a mechanic who is a friend of mine look at it. He spent an hour and a half going over it with a fine tooth comb, intent on finding something wrong with it. He didn't!

That is a very sweet car ... and a great find.
My Yaris is my baby .. and I am sure that you will feel the same about your new car.

Interesting that you say that, because I love the car already. My girlfriend has a 2008 Auris but I wouldn't swap my Yaris for it. My girlfriend even admitted that she prefers my Yaris!
Considering it's only got a 1 litre engine, it certainly can move. Overall, I'm thrilled with my purchase.

is that sought after in the states? I would have thought you'd be happier with the bigger engine.

213,000+ miles on mine and still running strong. Only one issue ever: the electronic 'brain' went 500 miles shy of the warranty....been fine since. Only maintenance and it's about to get the TRD treatment: Full TRD suspension, clutch, and quick shifter....I'm gonna have fun 'til this thing dies.

Not really. Only people who drive to get as high a MPG as possible would want to try one out and we are distinctly in a minority.
I used to have a diesel back in the day when diesel fuel was 20% less than petrol. Those days are long gone. Now diesel is nearly 40% more than gas. ($2.90 VS $2.09) It thus makes no sense whatever to own a diesel car nowadays, economic sense I mean. You have to shoot for as small a gas engine as possible and those are rare in the States.

Is that $2.09 for a gallon? if so, that's really cheap because a gallon of unleaded is $5.26 in Ireland!

That's in sane! Only thing is I'd probably be happy enough to pay an extra 5 dollars not to get blown up!

. Interestingly enough, the only time I've ever been exposed to that (could hear and see a few explosions from the road in a valley we were driving through) was driving from Belfast to Dublin toward the tail end of skirmishes re The Troubles. Also had to go through some sort of makeshift checkpoint on that drive.
