Looking to buy a Yaris next month...

Hey guys, so I have this Nissan Sentra 2004 at 207 000km at the moment. The thing is ugly enough but I haven't had to take it to the garage at all within the first year and a half of owning it. However, I need a company car so I have been looking at the Yaris 2012 or 2013. I'm in love with the model and of course being a Toyota makes it all the better.

Thing is, I tried a 2012 model this evening and boy oh boy... even tho the thing rides really great, the seats are SUPER UNCOMFORTABLE... if I place my seat according to the steering wheel, I'm too far from the gear stick... I sat in the car for 15 minutes just trying to get comfortable... the headrest on top of those seats is a nightmare. I only got semi comfortable when I took it out completely.

My Sentra is ugly and almost ready to go but it's really comfy in there. Am I being complicated or does anyone else here feel the same way about the Yaris.

It's really too bad cuz it rides great and it looks awesome... I might buy a Chevy Spark or Honda Fit instead but I hate the Sparks cup holder in back and the Honda Fit looks... :barf:

I don't know about the hatchback, but previous model hatchback lack height ajustments of the driver seat. I sat in my friend's HB and it was a tad higher than my sedan. I drive my sedan's seat all the way down.

The Yaris is lacking a telescopic steering wheel. I find myself sitting just a tad too far from the steering.

Ok so I drive a 2012 Hatch back. I do remember what your talking about. Nothing seemed to fit right, head rest push head forward and everything seemed to be to close or to far away but then I tried the seat basically vertical (liked to have seat leaned back and adjusted from there in other cars)everything fit, everything was where it was needed and the headrest felt right you cant really see it in any of the picture I posted but I think its one click back off of vertical. I think that Toyota may be trying to correct our posture or something but that is where it all felt right to me. The best part of this though is when you get a passenger. I have my passenger seat set to what should be about right and every time they get in and lean the seat back, then they fight it for 20 mins or so till they give up on it and just deal with it feeling uncomfortable

I drive a hatch and from day one I felt like things are just a touch off. I'm only 5' 10", but i don't feel like I have all the leg room I'd like when the seat is all the way back, but as Illusion said, with the seat all the way back I feel farther from the steering wheel than I'd like. It's never felt as comfortable as the Civic I came from. It's alright, just not ideal IMO.

I'm 6'2" and I definitely felt that the shifter was too low. So do what I did and slap a massive stick in there. Some people like it and some don't. I love it, it adds charector and comfort.

I have a 2012 Yaris hatch. At first, the seats were quite uncomfortable, but like anything, the body adjusts. It didn't take long until I found it very comfortable. However, I'm 6'4" tall so the reach to the gearshift was never an issue for me. Good luck.

^^^^^ This. I'm a fraction of an inch shorter than you, and I feel the same way. I also think the 3rd Gen seats are more comfortable than the 2nd Gen seats, at least as far as U.S. models are concerned.
