Hi all,
have a question that may or may not be hard to answer. I'm looking to buy my first can and a used Yaris seems to be an affordable and reliable choice. I tested one yesterday, from 2003, 1.0l, that was in great condition although it has 90k miles on it (if I did the conversion right). The one thing I reacted on was that the biting point of the clutch was pretty high; I only noticed when starting in first gear, wasn't prepared for having to let the clutch up so far. My dad had the same experience (stalled once). We're no newbies to stick shifts, it should be said, especially him. I know it can be a sign of a worn down clutch if it goes higher, but also that cars are different. So- does anyone know if it is typical for the Yaris (03) to have a rather high clutch biting point?

thankful for any advice!

There are very few 1.0Ls here. The 1.5L definitely has a high pedal though so it may be normal. The 1.5l clutch is also very long-lived; people get well over 200,000km out of them regularly. Can't be of much more help without seeing the car.
Cheers.

My 11 Yaris 1.5 had that kinda clutch. I OFTEN killed it in 1st gear and I have driven manual my whole life. The 15 Yaris has a new, much improved clutch.
