I am looking into getting a 07 Yaris in Canada, I am reading some paint problem other people are having, i know this may sound stupid, but does anyone in Canada have the same issue?

All cars chip easy ever since they switched to environmental paints. We Canadians bitch more because we get snow, and as a result, gravel and rocks in the winter.
3M clear bra is your only solution.

is there anything I can do when I buy the car to prevent this from happening?

There is a 3M clear bra you could buy, but it gets expensive imo. I just suck it up and expect to repaint in a half dozen years or so.

paint chips, scratches and scuffs that's just what happens especially when it is exposed to the elements, the weather the roads and parking lots
you could get it clear coated or keep the front end waxed really well or get a bra or there are some other ideas posted recently but these seem to be the top pics
I vote that you drive your car and worry not I seriously doubt the paint on the Yaris is so much worse that any other car out there. I expect I'll have to do something with my bumper in a few years to keep it looking fresh but overall the paint should hold up unless you drive on rock roads and ride peoples ass all the time.

I commute to work on a Interstate Highway and every vehicle I have ever owned got chipped. I think the Yaris hood is susceptible do to the hood angle. The first chip mine received I actually witnessed the offending stone coming right at me, but there wasn't I dam thing I could do. So, stay off the other cars tail and let the guy throwing his grass out on to the street with his mower turn before you pass by.
BTW, This is my 3rd new Yota and the paint is no better, or worse in quality then the others.
