10k at most is right, IF you are driving all highway miles. With mixed driving you should do it at 5K.
With Walmart synthetic oil and a good filter it is pretty cheap.

For my normal use Yarii I do it every 5000 miles. My taxi one it gets stretched out to 6000 miles because I drive it so damn much. Synthetic oil only for all of my stuff.

Oil change interval is required by the manufacturer depending on your location. Most of the time, it is the filter that isn't able to hold more than you want.
I would not risk long interval change within warranty period. Otherwise, I've been doing 8k miles interval without issues for the past 6-7years. No sign of oil consumption.
Otherwise, I've always had 3k miles synthetic oil change intervals for the first 3-4 years I've owned the car.
Now my car is beat up, I change it once a year, mileage independent.

I just got my Yaris, a 2016 it had 43k on it.
I changed the oil to super tech full synthetic, and a fram ultra filter At 45k,
I will change the oil again at 50k, same filter, and then 55k and change the oil and filter.
Fram ultra are rated for 20k miles. So I feel 10-15k miles in less than a year will be ok.
You could run the oil of your choice for 8k to 10k miles, can send your oil for an analysis that will tell you the condition of your oil and the levels of the wear metals and the company will recommend for you to go further the next oil change or less on the next oil change depending on what they find. Some oils truly can go much farther than others.
The thing that concerns me, is that there were quite a few Toyota engines that got carbon and sludge buildup around the oil ring on the piston and began consuming oil it seems like a relatively common thing, and I personally believe it may be due to Extended oil change intervals

You should also change the manual or automatic transmission fluid every 40K or so miles to maximize the chances of your transmission lasting hundreds of thousands of clean-shifting miles without issues. I changed my manual transmission fluid at 35K (3.5 years from date of it hitting dealer lot for sale) with the same Toyota OEM replacement fluid & could immediately tell the difference in shifting quality. Gotta keep the transmission happy, as it is one of the most likely components to fail or have issues if it isn't taken care of.

Hey Kalispel,
What kind of fluid did you use for manual gearbox change? I'm sure the manual states it, but i don't recall the capacity either. Any opinion on using redline or amsoil fluids?
