Hi Everyone,

My sister is going to replace her Yaris soon and I was thinking about taking it off her hands. I don't know the year, but I would guess it's about 10 years old, and it's a two-door hatchback. The thing is, it has a lot of rust on the rear of the rocker panels and the rear wheel wells. Are there panels out there to cut and weld in?

Anything else I should watch for?

Thanks!
Toby

There is a video here in which a guy fixes the areas to which you refer. One area that does tend to go bad is the unibody section just underneath and forward of the rear wheels. There is a small dogbone shaped stiffener that attaches in 2 spots. The contact points tend to rot out. Many Yari are scrapped as apparently it is expensive to fix. That said, anything can be fixed with time, patience and $$.
