Hello all, I know these questions have been asked frequently but doing some basic google and forum thread searches did not answer some questions I have. As the thread title suggest I am trying to add cruise control on my 2010 3dr manual transmission Toyota Yaris, which seems to be one of the easiest to install this feature on as it comes prewired. I read some threads from ~2010 where people were only spending $40 for their kits. I understand prices fluctuate but I cannot seem to get my cost down anywhere near that.

The items to buy on my list are:

CC Clutch Switch
Cruise Control Stalk
Stalk mounting screws M5, quantity 2
Cruise Control Wire

The control stalk on Amazon seems to bring some sort of cable with it and I wonder if this is possibly the same as the cruise control wire? I am seeing if I can avoid buying the cruise control wire as it is ~$30 everywhere I look.

If anyone has any tips or recommendations I would be glad to hear them and try them!

Thank you!

If I remember correctly, the switch does have a wire coming from it that gets plugged into the clock spring (spinny deal that keeps wires from getting tangled when turning the steering wheel)

I think the $40 setup would be on an automatic transmission that doesnt require the clutch switch. Pretty sure I paid $40 usd for that clutch switch from CTScott about 3 years ago.

Honestly, a pick-n-pull yard is your best bet for the pins and switches. And if your a bad apple like me, you'll put most of the parts in your pocket, and forget them there at the cash.

Nice advocating stealing.
And people wonder why wreckers charge so much.

In this fucked up world, I'll get ahead where I can. We're all stolen from every day.

Do you think gas costs what it does because big oil is just getting by? When the price rockets upward 10% because its christmas, is the right thing?

Is it right when a car is insured in brampton ontario for the driver to pay 300% more because he/she lives in brampton and not pickering? Same driver skill, same car.

When your cashier screws up your change in your favour... how many of us give the excess back? I dont.

I guarantee no one is going bankrupt over 2 electrical pins from a scrap yard.

Is it right? No. Does it happen every day? You'd have to be naive to think not.

I'm not saying you should go steal stuff. Do what you will.

To the OP, try a scrap yard. It's your best bet. The stalk is available from many models. The pins you need I believe are model specific. If theres more than one yaris there get the pins from the horn wire. The yaris only has one compatible pin from the horn wire so you'll need 2 cars to get your 2 pins.

To nortonfb: concern yourself with yourself and you'll be just fine ;)

is the clutch switch the same for a 14 yaris also?

I dont see why it wouldn't be. Many years of yaris parts are interchangeable. In one of my yari, I used a clutch switch from a scion Xd. Generally speaking manufacturers like to save money by reusing simple parts on many models.
