Battery corrosion. Some batteries corrode some don’t. It’s caused by battery acid gas leaking around the terminals. Whenever I get a car first thing I do is grease the terminals with wheel bearing grease. But you still have to check periodically unchecked you can have a real mess and a no start. If there is corrosion baking soda mixed in a pot of hot water and a wire brush will scrub it away. Then you can reapply the wheel bearing grease
