Hi everyone. I'm a new car owner and have purchased a 09 Yaris last month. I got two dashboard lights come on when I start the car:

1. Blue Coolant Temperature Light - goes on every time I start the car. After about a 1-2 minute drive, goes away. I don't remember this being an issue when I test drove the car a month ago. Since then, it spent about 3 weeks standing and not being driven in Southern Vermont.

2. Traction light is flashing all the time.

Thanks for any advice, in advance, as I'm a newbie.

The "cool" coolant light goes out when the car gets close to operating temp. Nothing to be concerned with.

The flashing Tire Pressure Monitoring Sensor light is something to take note of. It is either telling you one or more of your tires are underinflated or you have had a sensor in one of the wheels fail to communicate with the car.

The lights I see are

1. COOL - the engine temperature is below normal operating temperature. You didn't see it during your test drive as the engine was probably warm at the time. You will notice that the transmission will not shift into top gear until this light goes out.

2. The red light is your seat belt light

3. The yellow light is your Tire Pressure Monitor System (TPMS). Check your tire pressure and if all are at specification then have someone check each wheel sensor.

Thanks.

About the "cool" engine temperature light: the light goes on every single time I start the car. I've driven cars for 20 years and I've never seen a car do this every single time, even when the temperature outside is not that low. That shouldn't be happening constantly, shout it?

Subaru's do this as well. It all depends on if a vehicle is equipped with such a light. The light will be lit at every cold start. It's supposed to come on. It's totally normal.

The Cool LED lights in my 2007. If the coolant temperature is below 130 degrees on my Scanguage.
If I stop and run some errands and the coolant is still above 130 degrees it does not light again. If it has cooled down to less than 130 degrees it will light again.

It even comes on in the middle of Australian summer. Think of it like the needle of a temperature gauge being below the "normal" temperature range. Basically, it indicates the engine has not yet warmed up, and you should drive reasonably calmly until it goes out.

The blue temperature light in my car stays on, even when the engine is at operating temperature. It should turn off around 55°c (131°f), but instead it turns off randomly. Sometimes it even turns back on again. The scangauge reads regular operating engine temperatures, so I know for sure it is not the sensor. The car runs perfectly, no problems what so ever but it called my atention the fact that the light remains on.

Anyone with the same symptoms by any chances?
