Hello all, first post here.. and I did do a brief search on this subject.. but came up empty handed.

The only difference I know of between the RS model and the regular model we get here in the US is the center council where the climate controll and the cd player is at.

Can someone help me out please? and some pics would be a bonus!

Thanks!

Well said. ha ha ha. I have to admit, RS does have a lot of extra from my LE, but there are only 2 things i wanted from the RS. 60/40 split and alloy wheelies. I actually liked the silvery center temp control better.

i've been thinking that i should have just paid the extra and gotten the rs model,
it seemed expensive at the time, i think $2500 more than what i paid for my le, but i really like the rear seat on the rs, i think it is just totally stupid that they don't offer that as an option on the other models or even standard.

they probably have to justify the extra cost of the rs.

can you add the fold-flat seat as a "stand-alone" option on u.s. models or is it part of a package?

why?

You have to get the power package to get the 60/40 seat.

The Sport Seats the all black interior and the better fabrics are one of the main reasons I like my RS, the interior feels more luxurious to be in...

Every car I've owned had upgraded sport seats, which I will never go without...

thanks for the info! So it's basically all cosmetic.

The RS model also has 15" vs 14" wheels. Those along with the side skirts reduce the "4x4" look. Good for someone like me who isn't really interested in lowering his car.

I'm just hoping the exchange rate eases up, because I'm starting to see some used ones come to market. Private seller has a non-lowered clone to yours in Calgary. If the exchange rate was more reasonable, I'd be tempted. Only an 11 hour drive.

Aren't there all sorts of legal problems in bringing cars across the border, because of NAFTA???? :iono: Or does that only apply to cars made in N.A.??? I used to understand the laws about this, now ........ not so much.
:help:

Not so many legal issues. Some dispute as to whether the speedo needs changing. NHTSA rules just say has to be labeled as KMH and MPH which Can spec is. Safety wise no problem.
Biggest hurdle is Toyota. They won't provide documentation for export unless vehicle has been registered in Canada for 6 months. I assume this is a manufacturer thing and not governmental:iono:

I custom built my iPod connector from the rear AUX output on the Clarion deck...The Clarion iPod interface was almost as expensive as the deck, and didn't give full control over the iPod anyways, you could only choose from 5 playlists, and couldn't even choose by song...

Then I soldered my own mini stereo cable because all that was available was 6 footers and longer, so I made one, about 6 inches long....
