So I was driving home one night from school down highway 60 at about 65-70 mph and a deer decided to trot in front of me. I didnt have any time to slow down because it ran in front so fast, so it took Toyota Yaris straight to the midsection at 65 mph. I just got this car about a month ago so Im pretty pissed because it probably isnt going to be the same anymore after they fix it. But for nailing it doing 65 the damage isnt as bad as I thought it was. The condensor, radiator and crossmember up front was pushed up agianst the engine and the front clip kinda just popped back out, pass door wont open either......emblem went flying but i got it back  Here is some pics.....

I'm guessing the yaris did, considering the deer is probably up in deer heaven now.

Ouch. Glad you're OK.
As far as your ride not being the same after that crash, you should be alright as long as the frame isn't damaged. Unless the deer you hit looked like the following, your ride should be like new after the repairs.

Actually, I was told by the Toyota rep that the collision has to be straight on the fender and above a certain speed in order for the airbags to activate.

Thanks...yea the deer passed away shortly after the collision, and yea it was a doe. It kinda swung around and hit the door. The airbags didnt go off but the car stumbled and coughed and died before coasting to a stop. Fuel pump inertia switch i guess. I would have taken pics of the deer but it was at night and my camera phone sucks. I didnt even see it after, my friends came by after the two officers showed up and they seen it, I was more upset about my car.

O well as long as you are okay...........poor deer thou. 5900 wow is that only the estimated price? or final Because labour might cost another few grand...so end up being like 7/8000

Meteorite Man
07-19-2007, 05:42 AM
I'm pretty sure the estimated repair price includes labor.

Too bad you didn't keep the deer or parts of it. A leg with hoof makes a great back scratcher, a nice ashtray could be made from the lower jaw....Or how about this little project that I know you could do with few handtools and a DYI on wiring...6580

Ok Ok, I know we are beating a deadhorse here, (or deer) but just trying to cheer you up.6581

Hope it alllllll works out. And stay out of the Zoo!!!!

07-19-2007, 02:53 PM
oh my gosh.. i'm so sorry for you, desertrat!.. a ford? Did they not have any toyotas for you to drive?

Desertrat
07-19-2007, 03:01 PM
No Toyotas, they said your car is outside and there isnt anymore cars for they day to switch, damn enterprise. Its weird how you can really notice the difference in mpg when switching from a Yaris to another car. This car is a gas hog compared to the Yaris.....

you definately hit a deer.

Kioshi
07-19-2007, 11:55 PM
well thats different, I hope your Yaris runs the same as it did when you first took it off the lot....then again the saying goes..Once your car goes into a repair shop, it just lost its virginity :(

All we ever get is people running over squirrels*(sp?) most retarded animal *sees a car coming, and still makes the effort to run across the street*

I feel your pain! We totaled one car & nearly totaled its replacement 10 days later hitting deer. Damn deer! Where's a hunter with an AK-47 & a spotlight when you need one?

Desertrat
07-20-2007, 01:41 AM
I wish they would of totalled it out so I dont have to wait as long and the thought of it not being the same anymore, but the insurance said it can be fixed....whatever.... When I get it back, hopefully tommorrow, Ill see if it still drives the same. After I hit the deer, a week later there was another dead one on the side of the road about a mile before mine. The officer said theres allways people nailing deer in that area because its open range....now Im paranoid on the way home. I need a snow plow....or some sort of self defense

Well, I finally got my Yaris back. They actually did a good job on it. As for handling it seems the same, no pulling to one side or anything. I took it out to a spot were the road had lots of turns in it, almost like a track, and performed some thoro testing. Fun
