my Scangauge just caught a P0456 engine code.
Seems to be evaporative canister, fuel line related. Anyone have this code? If so, what did they do or tell you when they fixed it? It is harmful to drive with it? Had to drive to work today, 60 miles round trip, but am taking it in tonight.

Thanks.:headbang:

Is your gas cap on tight? It is the most common problem.

The Yaris goes into self diagnostic mode on the Evap system after the car has been shut off for a certain time. If it finds a leak somewhere in the system you will get the P0456 code also.

Well, just got back from the dealer's and here is the resolution of the P0456 Code: (Quoting from finished repair order)

"Customer states that check engine light is on - check & advise. Cause: Code P0456 Evaporative system leak detected. Very small leak...
Correction: Perform Evap. system check. Perform smoke leak test in evap. system. No leaks found. Reset engine light. Run monitor. No codes found after check out."

They told me that I might not have put the gas cap on correct, but I know I did. Does everyone who has a Yaris notice that the gas cap will only click closed one or two clicks?

What exactly is a "smoke leak tes"??

gas cap is one click. they use a smoke machine to visually check for leaks.

Yeah. I'm getting one! They should be part of every car owner's set of tools. Such a deal! :headbang:

Your sensors are in proper working order. I thought that the link provided was for a gas cap! Besides, sarcasm makes the world go round.
