Ok so here is my question:
I bought my liftback yaris at around 7 months ago and like eveything i buy, something new of the same thing comes out, Liftback "S", so i want to ask if i should trade my 07 liftback for an 08 liftback s, or is it not posible due to that i have not had it for a while?, would it be stupid to do that? Reason: I have and automatic and i wanted a manual but needed a car really bad and all they had were in auto and no power windows or locks

You will probably have a pretty good loss on trade in value compared to what you owe.

Then what will you do in 12 more months when a NEWER, BETTER version of your S comes out?

Trading now would most likely hurt financially. On a car loan most of your monthly payment goes to interest for at least the first 1/2 of the term.

But if you really wanted a manual, might be worth checking into.

I would at least go to the stealership and see what the actual damages would be. Just go in there with a set "limit" to what you would be willing to pay more overall, and stick to it.... to avoid the 'buying frenzy' that can set in, and is the world's best salesman.

Yeah, i know that in some way its going to hurt me, i went to the dealer and talked to my saleperson and told him what he tough about trading it in for a Scion tC, and he said that i should atleast wait 2 years or atleast to where i dont owe so much on the car. Maybe thats what im going to do, but the thing is i dont want to modd is so much where im going to hate trading it in, She's my baby and it would be hard to give her up.

The thing is, if you're going to trade in for a different car which you know you will keep for 7 years then I would do it now, because even though you'll take a bath on trading in such a new car, a car never increases in value and if you made a mistake, fix it when the difference between what you really want and what you have is the least.

However; in my opinion; if you're going to trade in for a car which you aren't going to keep for a long time then you shouldn't do it.

Either way, do what's going to make you happy if you can afford it. Life's too short to sacrifice happiness for money.

lol i know the feeling, i thought about doing the very same thing with my car. I have an 07 m/t with no power windows or locks. For about 300 i can fix that and for another 500-1000 i can just buy a nice lip or body kit. Make your own S ;D haha

Don't trade it in - Sell it on Ebay. The 07's and 08's are selling around here for what people paid for them a year or two ago...

Allow me to throw in my 2cents...

ORDINARILY, about the dumbest thing a person could do is trade in a financed new car with less than a year on the note. HOWEVER, remember we are not in ordinary times and you're not driving an ordinary car. Depending on how well you negotiated the original price of your car (back when discounts were actually possible), you may find that your car is now worth MORE than you actually paid for it - particularly if you choose to sell private rather than trade to the dealer. With gas prices as they've been in addition to the relative scarcity of these vehicles closing out the 08 model year, someone might think they're getting the bargain of the century buying your "bare bones" car at $1,000 under the original sticker - well within range (IMO) of trading up so soon without embarassing "I bet you lost your ass on that one" comments from your buddies.

List your car on ebay and just watch the bidding wars begin!! You might even MAKE money on the deal! But get ready to pay full sticker at the dealer for your new one, and be careful he's not being slick and marking up over sticker to boot.
